I know Berea is not taking part in district play and thus can't be in the playoffs this year, what other schools around Ky are doing this right now?

I would say the first couple years for a program such as this would be used more to build the program and players, almost like scrimmages. Obviously this situation wouldn’t be great for the juniors/seniors who will never get a chance to play in the playoffs, but a program has to start somewhere. I guess at least they got a chance to play at the high school level, which is more then some schools that don’t even have football programs get.

No. In fact they are building a decent little program. But they had struggled some much after Aaron Stepp left for Clay County that they thought a two year drop to Independent status would benefit the program.

 

Now they can play any school they want (usually smaller, newer programs) and get a few victories. Victories will, in theory, bring out more numbers, which in turn should make for a more competitive program when they re-enter district play next season.

North Hardin Christian (new program; in probationary entry period with KHSAA)

Walton-Verona (first year program; not eligible for postseason until next year)

I think they somehow managed to get back into district play. They will be playing Harlan County High, I believe on October 10. This is what I was told. If that's the case then Powell County should be eligible.
