However, there were numerous UL fans that were touting Brohm as the number one pick in the draft before the 2007 season. I think we can safely assume that they drastically overrated his worth. As for Peyton, he did start the entire year. He also set the record for touchdown passes as a rookie, he also passed for 3700 yards (another rookie record)and made the NFL All-Rookie Team. Was that a bad year--especially for a moribund franchise like the Colts? Perhaps your memory is fuzzy. It wasn't just UofL fans, it was just about every media outlet in the country...
August 26, 200818 yr It wasn't just UofL fans, it was just about every media outlet in the country... Regardless, I think the expectations were way overboard, I think we can all see that now. It is probably less than a 50/50 shot that he is ever a factor in the league--not what you would expect for a Preseason All-American and #1 overall (projected) draft pick.
August 26, 200818 yr He is a rookie, and it showed big time. His arm strength has looked bad too. I really don't think so....he actually seemed to have the ball on in the flats, and some of the deep outs, that's the general barometer for arm strength...that said, I am disappointed with the numbers, BUT it's not apples to apples, he was playing with all backups, and such...I will hold judgements with less than 3 quarters of work in the books.

I didn't say that he didn't have faults. The Million Dollar Man With The Billion Dollar Plan said that Peyton had a bad rookie year when he set numerous records. He threw plenty of picks but he also threw for more touchdowns and more yards than any other rookie. He also had the 29th ranked defense that season.

I will say this though. I guarantee that Brian will NOT throw 28 INTs this season. As a matter of fact he'll be lucky to throw 28 PASSES this season.
August 26, 200818 yr I think he'll be fine with time. He is playing under a great QB coach and has time to learn with a lot of young guys around. I wouldn't want to be the guy that followed Farve but I'd love to be the guy that gets the franchise back on top after the slaughter Rodgers for not winning it all (unless he does which is possible with the Packs roster). I think Brian is in a great spot myself.
