August 24, 200818 yr Author I've never understood why Republicans want to cut funding for police officers and make it easier for criminals to get guns. My cousin's police union is backing Obama because they plan on restoring the COPS grants that put officers on the streets and schools when Clinton was in office. Bush got in office and those resources went overseas and police funding got cut. I'm curious to hear a Republican take on why it's OK to reduce funding for police officers yet make it easier for the criminals to get assault weapons. :lol: That is such a ridiculous statement that it's laughable. Do you even know what an assault weapon is?

Other proposed laws are going too far, just as is the case with the Patriot Act.

I consider the Patriot Act a win for terrorism. They have scared us into taking away some rights for the sake of "security".
