Hazard 2008/2009

Featured Replies

What does Hazard need to do to improve in 2008/2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

They need Campbell to play. I heard he might not be playing. Anyone know?

Not looking good! Him and Coach Holland were not getting along real well and he has some other issues.. You never know about kids these days!

I heard that Campbell would not be playing if he didnt get more shots.

That sounds awful selfish of a player. I heard Hazard was going to be really good this year can anyone give us a breakdown of their roster and what they did last season?

Campbell was an important team member last season. However with the talent level that Hazard has he will be replaced easily.

This years Hazard team could be the best 14th region team since the Hazard team lost in the infamous PRP state semi-final game in 1985. It would be a shame if a player truly felt that a few more shots were more important than a potential top 5 team in the state.

Campbell is a little overated and will be replaced with another good big guy. As far as this region goes its Hazard then everyone else.

I agree. This Hazard team is very talented and deep.

BTW, the infamous semifinal game between Hazard and PRP was in 1986. Breathitt County beat my beloved Owls in the regional championship game in 1985 to advance to the state tournament, so I remember all too well.

Whitaker is a great pg and Hazard has some solid atheletes but I believe with Campbell they could be at top 5 team in KY. Without him maybe more of a top 10 team.

Campbell is a physical presence along with Warren. Without Campbell and his intensity that he brings each night, I believe the front line is severely weakened. Jones is a good athlete, but lacks the consistency night in and night out. Whitaker is the primary ballhandler and when the ball is out of his hands the offense suffers. Martin is an above average shooter but is carrying too many pounds to take Campbell spot, and doesn't handle as well as him either. He is a smart player that could overcome those shortcomings.

Good luck to them!

Campbell is a very physical player. Hazard will still be good if he doesn't play, but they have the opportunity to be great. The Bulldogs will definitely miss him.

Even if Campbell doesnt play. Allan Fugate is just as big, just as strong, and alot more athletic. The only things that put Campbell above him is Leadership, Intensity, and most importantly EXPERIENCE. I dont think they can be a top 5 team either way but they are definitely the preseason top team in the 14th.

Campbell is very good at defense and rebounding.

I don't think there's any doubt about that. I just don't see anyone in the region being able to beat them. There's a few teams who can give them some quality compitition, namely Knott, Perry, Letcher, and Lee, but the Bulldogs will need to have a huge letdown to not end up back in Rupp come March. And if they get a good draw they could make it to the semis when they get there.
