Henry Back to the Bengals

Utecht is a top 5-8 TE?

Not really close, but he is a under rated TE that will be a very very good 4th option for Palmer to go to across the middle.

I can name quite a few TE's I'd take over Utecht.

Gonzo

Gates

Shockey

Witten

Clark

Winslow

Vernon Davis

Owen Daniels

Cooley

HeathMiller

Donald Lee...

:thumb:, Maybe I should of clarified that I agreed with you, he is a solid TE but no where near top 5 or even 10. But he adds something to the Bengals that they needed a TE that is able to catch the football.

Well for starters it is a whole lot more healthier and the secondary is improved, Geathers and Odom will be able to put pressure on the QB. There problem will be stopping the run, but If the offense is as good as it should be, they will force a lot of people to pass more than they would like with all the scoring they will be doing. I agree though, if the offense doesn't play well, they will be in some trouble. Last years defense was on the field over 35 minutes a game, that is way to long for any defense for to be effective.

I'm not so sure I'd be expecting Geathers and Odom to dominate rushing the passer. Last year they combined for a total of 12 sacks. That's not even top 5 for a single player last year...

^Considering the fact that Utecht has never been given a chance to be the #1 TE, I don't know how you rank him.

Whoever said the Bengals could start 2-6 is right on the money. Sure they could steal a game or two here and there, but this season could go downhill really fast.

Tell me where I said they will be dominate, But in Geathers defense he was being doubled all last year, these two should be able to put consistent pressure on oppisng teams QB's.

I'm not sure how anyone could say he's a top 5-8 TE. If you want to try and justify that, go ahead. I didn't rank him btw, I just said there are a lot of TE's I'd rather have.

You said they would put pressure on opposing QB's and I'm not so sure that they will be able to consistently do that. They weren't all that great last year...

Odom had 8 sacks on one of the best D-Lines in all of football, I'd say he did a pretty good job, Geathers was the only D-Line the bengals had last year that could rush the passer, Justin Smith was a good run stopping DE, but couldn't rush the passer effectivly, thus enabling teams two double Geathers, I think you will see an increase in his number of sacks, plus the new coordinator is more agressive so you will see a lot more blitzing from the bengals. And yes I think the Bengals will be able to put pressure on the QB this year, stopping the run will be the defense's problem.

Where did I ever say that you did?

I'm just not all that impressed with Odom or Geathers (especially Geathers) right now. I don't think they will be able to pressure the Qb all that well and I don't think the Bengals secondary is good enough to give them a lot of time to get to the QB.

This just looks like a classic example of agreeing to disagree.:fight:;) BTW

I'll believe that Odom and Geathers will do well at pressuring the QB, when I see it.
