I'm not so sure that SL is "loaded", but this could be a good game.

South should be a very good team this year Steven Q is very fast and should have a very good year. South also has a freshman that will be better than the (back) that they lost.

Very big bruising kid. I think he will excel through the years there because all of the focus will be away from him.

Steven Q is very fast, and the freshman back they have will be very good, but replacing Chad Merida (Both as a student and an athlete) will be very difficult.

This isn't about Chad Merida, this post is about Perry Central and South Laurel.

South Laurel returns 8 starters on offence and 7 on defence. SLHS was 6-5 last season, you have to believe they will be improved. :sssh:

What does the rest of the district return?

Is SL the only team returning a bunch of starters?

How good were the kids that have to be replaced?

Are their replacements as good as/experienced as what was lost?

Never said they would not be improved, just don't see "loaded" as the description of a team in somewhat of a flux. Holes to be filled and questions to be answered.

(And, yes, this is about the scrimmage, but the player that was mentioned is a BIG loss to the team, also.)

Also just looked at SL schedule. It will be a hard schedule for South to meet last years win total against. There are few cupcakes on there.

South should go 5-1 in their non-district games, and it's likely they will go 2-2 in the district this season if they stay healthy.:dancingpa

I still think it's a rough schedule for the cards to win 7 against.

South should be able to reach this goal as long as the defense has come a long way. You can't run a three man front against Corbin, Mercer or Pulaski County. South was hurt bad by other teams running games last season. It also wouldn't hurt if they found a running gaming to go with the returning lineman.

Rule 13

I think losing chad will not hurt South as much as everying thinks. Steven Q is as fast as Chad, I think S.Q hits the hole better, he also has better take off speed. S.L. has a very good o-line if they give Ricky time then good things will happen. If S.L. can get their defense working together then they should do good this year.

I think that the Miller kid that S.L. got this year will have S.L. fans saying chad who.

Chad is probably a better defender than Offensive player. (Don't get me wrong, he is good on both sides, but I think South will miss him on the D.)
