August 15, 200818 yr Author Cubs sweep the Braves, 8 straight road victories, bring on the fish:fight: Yep, very nice series sweep despite some shaky pitching by Lilly. The Cubs longest road winning streak since 1945. :sssh: The Brewers just finished their stretch of 10 games against the three basement dwellers. Reds, Nats and Padres, Milwaukee goes 8-2 in that stretch, but they are still 4.5 games back, 5 in the loss column.:lol:
August 15, 200818 yr Author The Arsonist was on his game again tonight. Yeah, I was yelling a few words that might be construed as cursing when I saw him "do his thing" on the mound tonight.
August 15, 200818 yr Have you guys noticed that Lou seems lately to just be using Bob in situations where he needs someone to eat up innings when we have big leads?
August 15, 200818 yr Author Have you guys noticed that Lou seems lately to just be using Bob in situations where he needs someone to eat up innings when we have big leads? Good question, I haven't really noticed, I do hold my breath whenever he comes in though. Just looked this up, he has appeared in 57 games this year and has given up at least one run in 22 of them. So since he essentially gives up at least one run in every other appearance, that means he should be good for at least one scoreless appearance against the Fish this weekend.
August 15, 200818 yr I wouldn't trust him in a close game either. Smardja has taken away Howry's job.

I dunno, maybe its just me, but it seems in tight games they are using Samarjizaurajieadas and Gaudin
August 15, 200818 yr Author I dunno, maybe its just me, but it seems in tight games they are using Samarjizaurajieadas and Gaudin I do agree with that, just amazing how strong their bullpen is now. Even with the fire starter down there with them.
August 16, 200818 yr Author :dancingpa:dancingpa Ward hits a pinch hit, 3 run homer in the top of the 9th to give the Cubs a 6-5 lead. Wood closes the door in the bottom of the 9th. Cubs now have a 9 game road winning streak and they end a 9 game losing streak in the state of Florida. Zambrano has one bad inning, but still pitches 6 innings, giving up 5 runs. A HUGE win considering their struggles in Florida recently and the fact that Marshall is making a spot start tomorrow. Did I say HUGE yet??
August 16, 200818 yr The Cubs are just rolling. I'm sure very exciting times for Cubs fans. Sweet Lou has to be one of the most popular managers in baseball. I know he's loved in Seattle, Chicago, Cincinnati and New York.
August 16, 200818 yr Good win by the Cubs. Atlanta and especially Miami have never been good places for them to play. Everyone in the Central is hot and the Cubs keep extending the lead, which is good news given the September schedule
August 16, 200818 yr Author Good win by the Cubs. Atlanta and especially Miami have never been good places for them to play. Everyone in the Central is hot and the Cubs keep extending the lead, which is good news given the September schedule Once they come home from Florida, they have the Reds for 3 and the Nats for 3. So they will have chances to build this up before the fun road trips during the final month.
August 16, 200818 yr So the cubs by My calculations are on pace to win exactly 100 games.... Coincidence?
