April 10, 200917 yr Author Nice weather means Jim Schue throws the garage door open and rocks out to some vinyl. It being Hip-Hop Thursday, I naturally started with "The Low End Theory" by A Tribe Called Quest. From there, I went to "Powder Burns" by The Twilight Singers. It's a natural transition, as front man Greg Dulli has always done a good job of incorporating R&B into his hard rock stylings. Hard right turn from there, however, as I went with Hayes Carll's "Trouble In Mind" after that, a decidedly country record (albeit one that would never see the light of day on the country charts). Headed back out in a minute to throw on some Waylon Jennings doing old-school country covers. How many people do you know who can transition from A Tribe Called Quest to Waylon in three easy steps?
