Broke the shaft on my putter at the driving range last week. I could get the shaft replaced for not a whole lot of money but since I was wanting a new one anyway I am going to use this as an excuse to just buy a new one. Any suggestions on a good one? Something around a $100.

Can't go wrong with an Odyssey IMO. I love them.

You might want to call these guys for advice.

There is no way I come off not looking like an idiot on this one.

 

Like most driving ranges they have a line of matt's with rubber tee's and you can also hit off the grass in front of them. I was hitting off the grass when it came time to hit my driver. I didn't have many tee's and not wanting to break the ones I had I just thought I would drive off the matt where I could use the rubber tee. I started hitting drives when I caught one off the lower half of the driver face. Well in my stupidity I didn't move my bag from in front of the matt I was hitting on. I figured it was far enough away but was I wrong. The ball came off low enough it hit my putter on the shaft right below the head. The next thing I know my putter head is flying through the air. The only thing I can take away from it is at least it didn't hit my driver or 3 wood. I would much rather replace the shaft in my putter (if that is what I decide to do) or buy a new putter all together then spend $75 dollars to replace just a shaft.

Yes, certainly not cheap. If your looking around your cost, find a used Ping Anser or Anser 2.

Honestly, when I first read it I thought that you might have vented some anger through your clubs. Or maybe you were having trouble hitting the driver so you figured you'd give the putter a try? :lol:

 

I've broken a shaft or two on the golf course in my day and IMO, unless you spent a lot of money on a set of irons, putter, etc. your best bet is to purchase a new one. The Ping Anser that Strike3 spoke of earlier is a pretty good option for the price.

:laugh:I was going to give a suggestion of my own but I figured someone that 3 putts as much as I do shouldn't be handing out putter suggestions. I have been told that just watching me play a round will often add two or three strokes to your game.

Playing one time and great friend in our foursome missed a 4' footer, for his a bogey (2nd putt). Ran it by 2' and went to tap in....missed and settled for a 4 putt.

 

The part he said, that I can quote is "I would rather seen an orphanage burn, than 4 putt".

 

 

I do like the feel, of the Anser. I've replaced the grip, several times and it's been my most consistent putter. I like the offset style, when selecting any putter.
