You can, it's called suicide. Technically it's illegal but what can they do to you if you're dead? It may also invalidate a life insurance policy but at least you will have your dignity..

I really don't have a preoccupation with death. As I have stated before, abortion is more about choice to me. A choice whether a woman wants a certain type of cell developing in her body.

I find it amazing that anyone can equate the development of a new human life full of wonder and hope to cancer or some other type of destructive cell. Absolutely amazing. I'm not picking on thegooch alone here, there are many who share his viewpoint. I'm sure I'll hear from several of them in response to this post.

 

Whenever we grant ourselves the right to "choose" which innocent lives are worthy of living, and those unworthy of life, we step into an area I sincerely believe we do not belong... an area that will come back to bite us... hard.

 

If we start telling people what they cant do with their bodies(I am against drug laws as well) then what is to stop us from going down your slippery slope to government mandated vitamins, or other things.

I'm all for women having the right to "choose" not to engage their "bodies" in activities that could result in unwanted pregnancies... but once that pregnancy occurs, to suggest that killing a new human life as an inconvenience in the same way we might extract a tumor is something I'll never understand.

I understand the qualms that people have with Euthanasia. But I do not understand why I should not be able to end my life in a dignified manner, when faced with a painful terminal illness.

 

How is that different than suicide? When a person wants to end their life in what they view as a dignified manner.

I dont think many people who commit suicide would see there action as ending there life in a dignified manner.

 

However when you have a 89 year old man who has 8 months to live. The man knows those eight months are going to be full of agonizing pain, dirty diapers, and sleepless nights; I see no reason why he should not be given the option to make the choice to have himself put down; to be able to rest in peace.
