Other Forms Of Legalized Murder

Featured Replies

Hearsay got me thinking with is list of other forms of killing. I want to address two of those on his list; Euthanasia and DNR. IMO, I believe everyone has the right to die with a little dignity and to forgo the pain of a terminal illness. Where does everyone else stand?

DNR is at the patient's request, via a living will, correct? I don't see that as murder, at all...

I really don't either, but some do.... I don't see why we don't legalize patient chosen euthanasia....

They we go down the slippery slope, 50,000,000 or so abortions since Roe vs. Wade, allowing for euthanasia, then what? Let's not give health care to old people because it is a waste of resources, then maybe in the future it will be like a movie from the 1970s, Logan's Run, killing off people when they get to 35 to conserve resources.

Why do you jump off like that? If I had a terminal illness or someone in my family did, and they were in an immense amount of pain, I would have no problem(if they asked) to make sure they didn't suffer any longer. In fact I have promised this to one or two people in my family.

I am saying that before Roe vs Wade no one would have thought that 50,000,000 plus human beings would be terminated before they had a chance to live. I believe the vast majority of poeple of this time frame would never have supported Doctors helping people kill theirselves. Plus in Denmark (?) were this is allowed, a near majority of these deaths are performed without the permission of the person being killed. I just believe as we move from one postion to another we start playing God.

And you would perform this act in violation of the law as it now stands.

You seem to have a preoccupation with death with your support of abortion and euthanasia.; Who is your hero Dr. Menegele?

If a family member was terminally ill and in the final stretch of massive pain, I would do it. I have loyalty to family above all else.

I really don't have a preoccupation with death. As I have stated before, abortion is more about choice to me. A choice whether a woman wants a certain type of cell developing in her body.

If we start telling people what they cant do with their bodies(I am against drug laws as well) then what is to stop us from going down your slippery slope to government mandated vitamins, or other things.

I thought it was absolute liberty above all else with you?

And I have a news flash for you we have been telling people what that can and can't do with their bodies for years.

There have been limitations throughout history. The limitations more often than not have been about preserving life and what is good for mankind. I do not believe vitamins are bad for you, yet they are regulated to make sure they do no harm to the user of the product, while using drugs just to get high can cause life theatening situations and cause the user to be a burden to society. The helping of someone to kill theirselves, even in the last days of life, is against the law and considered to be wrong by many people's religious beliefs.

With a DNR, the medical team simply does not resucitate the patient and lets nature take its course, per the patient's request. That's not killing someone.

Euthanasia is not legal in this country.

Euthanasia is not legal in this country.

It is in some places....

Oregon is the only state that will allow a physician to write a prescription for a lethal dose of medication for a patient who is expected to die in less than 6 months.

Texas law allows the withdraw of life support by the hospital and physicians. This has happened twice against the wishes of the family. One was a 6 month old child, the other an African legal immigrant who was conscious and responsive when life support was removed.

California has attempted and failed to pass legislation such as Oregon has.

It is in some places....

never mind, it's not worth it.

I understand the qualms that people have with Euthanasia. But I do not understand why I should not be able to end my life in a dignified manner, when faced with a painful terminal illness.

You can, it's called suicide. Technically it's illegal but what can they do to you if you're dead? It may also invalidate a life insurance policy but at least you will have your dignity..

FWIW I'm a firm believer in living wills and I have one.
