July 25, 200818 yr Headed to The Outer Banks, NC for a family vacation. Specifically, we'll be staying in Corolla, NC. Anybody ever been there?
July 25, 200818 yr In 94 we went to the Banks. House was nice. Beach was OK. May be different for a single guy than it was for a guy with 3 kids under 7 at the time.

I'll be there with my niece & nephew as well, who are not quite 2 1/2 years old. Should be fun. If nothing else, the weather should be nice and there's a beach, golf & pool. Sounds good enough for me.

July 25, 200818 yr it's definitely a beach for families or older people. When I went in July of '03 the beach was basically empty compared to myrtle (no life guards where we were) and no night life. would make for a perfect family vacation! have fun
July 25, 200818 yr Author Staying in a house? Yup. Pictures look really nice & it's only like 1,500 feet from the beach, so it'll be a relatively short walk.
July 25, 200818 yr Any recommendations on golf courses? I was there last year and you dont have many choices for golf and it wasnt cheap.....I think it was $80....:irked:
July 25, 200818 yr Two things, if you are going tomorrow...you will be stuck in horrendous traffic to get on the island. Just be patient, and it will be ok, but it sucks real bad. We normally stay in Duck which is right before Corrolla (pronounced core-rall-a)...Just relax, enjoy the weather, and the beach. Our house, last year, was a beachfront house. It was awesome, one of the very best vacations I have ever been on.
July 26, 200818 yr Headed to The Outer Banks, NC for a family vacation. Specifically, we'll be staying in Corolla, NC. Anybody ever been there? We've been there a few times. My advice would be to tour the coastal lighthouses. It will take a full day, but the historians on-site have great stories. You can snorkel out at a few places and still see some of the wreckage from sunken ships.

It was awesome, one of the very best vacations I have ever been on. WE have been several time about 10 years ago. We found that if we went to Williamsburg...spent the night ...got up early the next morning to go on over to the Outer Banks...we beat all the traffic. When we were there we stayed just left of the pier... the pier is a great place to eat breakfast. Take the kids to see the play" The lost Colony" It is a outdoor play...it is great. Going to the outer banks is some of the best vacations we have had....loved it.

Are there not many courses around the area? $80 is probably relatively cheap in an area like that, I would assume.
