December 14, 201114 yr Author Don't be worked on payment, make sure you know what the true buying prices are. Correct. Negotiate like you're buying it ie know the sales price/cap cost. Then have them use that number to determine your lease payment. In addition, even though they didn't offer 12k ask for it. I see ads all the time offering 10k leases.
December 14, 201114 yr Author I guess those have restrictions? Those what? 0%? You just have to have the credit score to qualify for it. 0% items to consider: Do you qualify? Is it for a shorter term that makes your payment higher than you're comfortable with? Is there a better offer that combines low interest rate and a rebate? Is it on the model you want? Negotiate off of price - not the payment at 0%.
December 14, 201114 yr Author We got my wife's Camry with 0% financing during their Toyotathon. It's a 2011 nicely equipped and payment is like $300 a month. Can't ask for a better deal on a more dependable vehicle. That's on a brand new car. How many months? Has to be 60 or more, right?
December 14, 201114 yr I guess those have restrictions? I just had to qualify with a good enough credit score. It's for 60 months at 0%. My payment is like $307. I don't see how you can go wrong with that.
December 14, 201114 yr Sounds great in theory, and I do make a good candidate for it. I am not sure my wife will let me drive a lot less of a weenie vehicle than she has. I know it should not matter and it is stupid, but I do not know I could do it either to my ego She has a big ole SUV. I will await the lecture on how silly that is. A lot of people really can't handle it. But while they complain about their high insurance or car payment I just laugh. I haven't really looked around but there are probably some old beater trucks to be had in that price range. Maybe some of the mid-size Toyota models as they are plenty dependable. I personally like the covered storage where I can pile my camping stuff in it and not have to worry about the elements. But overall I do think minivans run cheaper than trucks or SUV's. Another option would be an older Camry or something of that ilk. The minivan wasn't my first choice I will admit. I totalled out a newer/nicer vehicle and only had liability since I paid for it in full. I knew a person with a minivan for sale really cheap and I absolutely loathe the idea of having a car payment so I took the plunge -- haven't looked back. The peace of mind that comes with not having to worry about a car payment, insurance, or if it gets dinged up in a parking lot is quite nice. I know it's not for everyone as many people have to drive long distances quite often and I could see wanting something new or with less miles. But for short commuters who have access to other vehicles for long vacations and such (or just fly) it's a very good option to consider. Also, if I were you and people gave me a hard time I'd just show them my IM tat. That should shut them up.
December 14, 201114 yr Have never leased & likely never will. Usually drive a car into the grave. Prefer buying them with a rebuilt/salvage title, because I have a trustworthy friend who does the body work.

My local bank has always given me a great rate on loans and the rebates have been more than I would have saved with 0% intrest. I've also never put money down on a vehicle (I've had the money to put down, just haven't)

If there is a substantial amount of rebate money and one is not financing an excessive amount. 0% may not be for you.
January 31, 201214 yr We got my wife a new vehicle this past weekend and went with a lease. Ended up with a Toyota Highlander.
