Top Teams 08/09 Part 2

I like this top 5. Without Scott's big 2 then I don't think they are a top 5 team.

My thinking back how things change in just a few weeks. After Elliott got their brains beat out by 29 points in the Mason Fieldhouse last Feb. everybody was saying they hadn't played anybody except Covington Catholic, Rose Hill, and Mason County and got beat by all three. They didn't deserve to even be in the Top 25. Then they beat Rose Hill by 7 points in the regional final and then had Mason on the ropes leading by 7 points with 3 minutes left in the game eventually losing by 4 points. What changed in a few short weeks?? Nothing to those who knew this bunch and had watched them for sometime. Now all of a sudden they are getting Top 5 mention for next season. Don't get me wrong I agree & am tickled for the respect they seem to be getting, but I agreed when they got their brains beat out by Mason in the Fieldhouse and when they lost to Rose Hill in the All A Region SF despite the naysayers saying they hadn't played anybody and hadn't beat a top team. That Mason game in Rupp plus the sterling summer national AAU play by Ferguson, the Faulkner Twins, and Timmy Knipp has many of you now jumping on their ship. What is my point?? I was on their ship when many said it was sinking never to rise again. Thrilled about the new found respect they are getting, but now they have to prove it this season. I believe they can, but of course I have believed it all along.

Elliott Co. is very good, but I don't think they are the Chicago Bulls of the 1990s just yet. I would say they are a top 10 team and because they do shoot so well can get hot and knock off some really good teams.

Your enthusiasm is impressive though.

I believe by seasons end if LexCath gets their transfer eligible (Beckham I think) along with 2 really good freshmen, they are going to be hard to handle once you put them in wth Sanford and some other role players that will be very good.

Where is the transfer from?

From Bryan Station. I believe that 2 brothers are going to LexCath. One brother will be a sophomore and the other will be a freshman. Both played for Bryan Station last season. Not sure about how much or what level. Also another kid from Frankfort is going to Lexington Catholic. He is supposed to be very good at football and basketball.

Manual is definately in the mix now for any state title talks.

LMB is any of the two freshman better than Ivey or Manning?

I don't know. I saw the younger Beckham play in AAU with a team out of Lexington I believe. He was very good. I think in a couple years he will be one of the best players in the state.
