June 11, 200818 yr Oakland, maybe also? I just don't see an ego like Bonds playing for anything less than a king's ransom. Sure. Remember, these teams are in a business. Putting fans in the seats is a lot more important to many owners than winning a pennant.
June 11, 200818 yr Owners, GM's and coaches most certainly care about that stuff . . . I would say in the order you listed, the level of care increases. Starting at the top, it is about $ for most.
June 11, 200818 yr Author Owners, GM's and coaches most certainly care about that stuff . . . Are you kidding? All they care about is selling tickets which equals $$$$$.
June 11, 200818 yr Sure. Remember, these teams are in a business. Putting fans in the seats is a lot more important to many owners than winning a pennant. Sure, but if a team is not in a pennant run, is Bonds on the field (actually not in the field, just in the batting order for an AL team) really going to fill up many seats? Assuming the Reds are 15 games out by mid-July, would Bonds on the roster make you attend any more games?
June 11, 200818 yr If someone is willing to come forward and admit their mistakes practically beg for forgiveness and ask for a second chance when they are clearly capable, as is Gibbons. I feel for him. Bonds, no chance. I am with you 98...Gibbons made a big mistake obviously and probably had other people pushing him to make that mistake. I feel for this guy a little as well, especially after reading the letter that he wrote. Give him a second chance.
June 11, 200818 yr I would say in the order you listed, the level of care increases. Starting at the top, it is about $ for most. I think my comment got off-track. This is the comment to which I was referring: And it probably has a much to do with the fact that no one wants a distraction and royal pain-in-the-butt like him around a team trying to come together for a pennant run. And, yes, I submit that owners, GM's, and coaches would care a lot about someone who could end up being nothing more than a distraction during a playoff run.
