Ryle 10 Cov Cath 0 (6 innings)

First off, good luck to you all next week. Another Ryle-CCH regional final rematch would be absolutely awesome, IMO. (assuming we win, of course.) :D

Regarding the Grant game: Yes, Ryle came ready to play. But they stunk. It happens in baseball and darn sure happens in high school baseball. I don't believe it had anything to do with them being mentally unprepared for the game. The baseball gods decided, for whatever reason, that Grant would play well and we would stink and the end result was we got smoked.

Have I ever seen/coached a team that was mentally unprepared to play a game? Heck yes. Do I think that is the reason CCH lost the to Ryle? Heck no. You just can't tell me those boys weren't fired up and ready to play that game. They had a bad game. Ryle had a good game. Put the two together and it resulted in a Ryle run-rule. It happens. Certainly not between these two teams very often, but it happens.

Don't disagree about the Lexington weather factor. But just pointing out that CCH has indeed had some pretty bad defensive games, especially early in the season. I just don't think this was their worst showing.

And, YES, you most certainly do emphasize the positives of the boys! That is why your posts are so enjoyable. That, and the fact that I am convinced if Maile struck out four times in a game, you would declare them the four greatest K's in the history of baseball. :p (Sorry, I just had to take a "tiny" shot!!).

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: okay, but :D:thumb::lol:

If Maile struck out four times in a HS game, I would be demanding a DNA test to make sure the pitcher was of High School age and wasn't a MLB pitcher hired by a bunch of Ryle Raider fans (with money to burn), who just wanted to see Theoldguy die of a heart attack at a high school baseball game.....:thumb::D

See you Memorial Day at Champion Window.....

Well....Maile did go hitless. Strike out looking, weak infield ground out, unintentional walk.

Diamond Dandy that only equals 1 strikeout.

They were talking about 4 in one game.

I think you got a little confused.:thumb:

Just pointing out that it wasn't a banner day for him...no confusion about that.

No it wasn't, (but you do love pointing them out don't you :D) but thankfully, those kind of day's are few and far between for the young CovCath Junior.

Theoldguy's unofficial stats for Maile: Note these are from the games that I have done (or information given to me from those who attended the game, when I couldn't). These stats have nothing to do with the official stats from CovCath, or from the stats called into NKy.com by CovCath....

0.561 Batting Average

7 HR's

4 K's

Remember, CovCath plays a very competitive/tough schedule, against some of the best teams in the Commonwealth, so his stats aren't earned against some soft competition that some teams play week in and week.

If you're going to highlight his highlights then report on his bad days, too. Otherwise some might think you are biased. Not pointing out Mailie's unsuccess against the Raiders, but giving luv to to outstanding play of the Raiders for holding a good hitter, hitless. My unofficial stats have the Raiders who were on the field this year and last holding Maile to under .250 with no extra base hits and the Cov Cath team down to win the last 5 games out of 7.

3 wins out of 4 for the Raiders last year and 2 wins out of 3 this year.

Just stating the facts without the fluff.

The fact of the matter is I post the stats of all the CovCath games that I attend sans the second game of the Ryle vs. CovCath due to a family emergency that took place that night. Don't believe me?

May I suggest, that if you don't like what I write and the fact that I pro CovCath, (never said I wasn't) then don't read the threads.

I must have blinked and missed the stats from the Raider shutout last week.

You do post the CCH wins though...and sugarcoat the rest.

Did you happen to read Post #39?

Again if you don't like what I post, may I suggest you don't read them, or better yet, put me on your Ignore list, to save yourself from mistakenly having to read my comments.

I almost forgot.

The Real Good- Logan Carney's catch in right field. If you go on NKY.com they have a great photo of this outstanding catch.

From what I understand, the young man can also play some infield. If he continues to develope in RF and plays there in the future, he will no doubt continue to contribute to the success of Ryle's defensive in the outfield. Cov. Cath., Beechwood and Ryle have all had outstanding defense in the outfield over the last four or five years, and it's been in all three positions.
