I would think that anyone that slammed McCain or Hillary when they misspoke. You know, like Obama.

You can't blame Harvard for taking incoming students' mastery of basic geography for granted.

 

You can't really blame Obama either. While most Americans were learning basic facts like the number of stars on the flag in early elementary school, Obama was attending school in Indonesia, picking up foreign policy experience

That maybe Indonesian schools do not teach their pupils the number of states in our country. Maybe Hawaiian students learn that we have fifty states in the fourth grade.

 

Mostly, I was using Obama's gaffe to poke fun at the basis of his claims to foreign policy expertise - namely that he has lived in various places around the world and travelled to others. Hillary's claims that being First Lady and in the general proximity of important talks with foreign leaders makes her experienced in foreign relations makes more sense.

He says that he has been to 57 states but his staff will not let him go to Hawaii or Alaska. I think that West Virginia must be the 58th state to which he refers.

You mean like when Obama said that ethnic cleansing is a "positive" thing? Or is it just math with him, like when he drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died? The death toll was 12. How about when he "misspoke" about his being conceived because of Selma (he was conceived four years before)? He also said the Kennedy's donated money for a 1959 airlift of 81 Kenyan students to the U.S. One of those students, claims Sen. Obama, was his father. One problem. The Kennedy's didn't make a donation until 1960. A year after Obama, Sr. had arrived in the country.

This is just a little reminder that all candidates say nonsensical things while fatigued by the rigors of non-stop campaigning - regardless of age and regardless of whether the candidate is articulate. For that reason, Obama's remark is worthy of comment.

Sometimes Puerto Rico and Guam are considered states. They do have non voting delegates in congress

Maybe he is putting it into laymans terms....Have you seen the Jay Leno segment when he asks basic history questions to people on the street......its not good.

If Sen. McCain or even Pres. Bush had said it, it would deserve no more comment from me then it does now. This is a simply mistake, nothing more.
