Ryle JV is now 18-4 after having defeated Lex Cath JV this past weekend by a score of 5-2. They are playing some outstanding ball and would have to be considered one of - if not THE - odds of favorite to win the JV tourney. They also received a pretty decent draw in the tourney and get to play at home should they reach the semis. Nice work again by Coach Demler, who seems to always have this group competing for the regional crown.

I think that Ryle is a very good team and should be one of the favorites for the tourny. IMO Holy Cross should be the hands down favorite to win this tourny. This team beat Ryle twice and Cov Cath twice.

Indeed. Holy Cross is solid. Part of the problem with doing a blind draw. I know it would be hard to do it perfectly since all the teams don't play each other, but I would think the AD's/coach's could make a reasonable stab at it. Let's face it - BHS and HC are both in the top 4/5 JV teams (probably higher) and one will be eliminated after round one.

So do you have a complete bracket and, if so, any chance you can post it?

When it comes to seeding, I think too many people on this side of the river look at record and playing everyone as the only way to seed. NKY should take a page from Ohio and seed using its format, assuming everyone agrees the vast majority of coaching staff's are informed and honest. I think that's an easy assumption to make in NKY, so I'd give it a shot.

The draw is perfectly fine for a JV tournament. There is no way you can seed with teams that have kids bounce around from JV to Varsity. The blind draw is the fair way to do it.

It is easy when I coached JV we used districts then added others Schools out of Region 9.

Ryle JV defeats Beechwood JV tonight by score of 12-2. Ryle is on a roll right now and playing some great baseball. If they run the table out this year, they will just about match last year's school record 26-3 JV team.

Just want to throw this out there but going into the tourny next week here are my top 5 teams.

1) Holy Cross

2) Ryle

3) Cov Cath (At full strength)

4) Cambell County

5) NCC

Unfortunately because of the bracketing, one of those top 5 teams (either Cov Cath or Campbell) will be eliminated during a PLAY-IN game.

Being a Ryle "homer" :D, I would reverse HC and Ryle (even though HC has beaten Ryle twice in close games this year) because Ryle has been playing some outstanding ball the past 2 1/2 weeks. But I confess to being a "bit" biased. ;)

Pretty solid list, HC lost to Scott tonight though. So they will need to get back to their winning ways very soon.
