The Eagles start off 1-0 in district play while the mustangs fall to 2-1 in the 37th. Adkins pitched a nice game after the 1st inning (gave up the only run during that). The Eagles will play county rivals, the Simon Kenton Pioneers, at Scott tomorrow.

Heard adkins only gave up 2 hits.... besides hitting, heard an error filled inning...either 4 or 5 aided scott to a 5 1 lead...can anyone fill me in

Well it was in the bottom of the 5th inning and the score was 2-1 when Nick Hiller hit a hard grounder that went partly off the glove of the Mustang First basemen and skidded into foul territory and Murray was able to score from third and Adams hustled around to score from second as well (this was with 2 outs). After that, a pitching change occurred and he walked the first batter to reload the bases and then a base hit occurred scoring another to make it 5-1.

 

The next inning, after a 1-2-3 inning by some good pitching by Adkins, Scott came out ripping the ball and was able to drive 4 more runs across to make it 9-1.

 

Some Stats for the game :

 

Adkins: 2-4 ,2B, Reached on error, 2 RBIs, 1 run scored

Adams: 1-1, 3 BB (2 intentional walks)

Murray: 3-4, 2B, 2 RBIs

The score was 1-1 with two ous when the error occured and the relief pitcher did not give up a base hit he walked the first two batters he faced and and thats how the score became 5-1.

 

Mustangs just blew this game. They really showed how good they can be in the first 4 2/3 innings but then the wheels just started falling off. They made a mistake and Scott capitalized on that mistake. It was a greatgame up to that point but the Mustangs just couldn't hold it together.

Figured it would be well pitched by Adkins and Verst, just sounds like Verst ran out of gas. Scott goes to 6-3 on the year.

Verst didnt start the game. Zach Hertzenberg threw 4 2/3 good innings and only giving up one run until the error occured and then was pulled. Tyler verst came in to finish the 5th inning and then never returned to the game. Their were two more pitchers to throw in the 6th for Brossart. So to say Verst ran out of gas is just wrong. He didn't start the game and only threw 1/3 of an inning in which he was put in a very difficult situation in the 5th inning. I thought he did very well to get out of a jam in that inning. It just wasn't the Mustnags night.

Guys when you take away the errors in the game for both teams final score would have been Scott 4 Brossart 0. Brossart's run scored after the runner on second moved up to third on a passed ball by Scott's catcher and tagged up on a deep fly ball to center.

Scott looked like a veteran solid, stable, competitive baseball team today.

 

Made plays when they had to and got superb pitching from Adkins.

 

Mustang bats looked a bit anemic, although it was a great pitchers battle until the wheels came off in the bottom of the fifth.

He got the starters wrong, relax, no reason to call him out...

 

Brossart lost to Scott in the seeding game a couple years ago, then came around at the end of the year and won the district.

Errors are a part of the game and to excuse them, are similar to excusing hits...

I would agree completely with you Striker. People seem to do this all too often on here.
