Just a little thread for the Baby Tigers. So far the Tigers are 8-0.

How's the JV team doing???

They were playing well, undefeated...until yesterday when they dropped two games to Male and Trinity.

Spalding does play for them ,right ? Is there anyother kids from the Louisville Lighting on that team ?

Yes, Spalding plays JV. I don't believe there are any other Lighting on the Frosh or JV team.

Park,

Looks like it's going to be a dogfight every year between St.X and Male ( Manual is also tough )!!! One of these years in the near future they are going to represent the seventh region awfully well in the state tournament. The 7th region is almost a state tournament by itself with X, Ballard, Male,Trinity,Manual,Eastern, Fern Creek, J'town, emergence of CAL!!!

I agree, 7th is loaded with very good teams.

St. X freshman defeated Butler 5-2 yesterday. Record now 9-0.

That's a big win, Butler has a fine program.

Freshman Tigers traveled to New Albany Tuesday and won 11-0. Tigers are off to a great start.

Freshman Tigers are now 12-0. Tigers will take on Eastern tonight at 7:00.

Does Aaron Remmers play JV? How is he looking?

Eastern ripped the Baby Tigers 11-5. Eastern had a chance to run rule X in the 6th with a 9 run lead and a runner on third with one out but couldn't plate the run. Drake threw a good game for Eastern.

Aaron is throwing well, used as a closer primarily.

Aaron is throwing well. Aaron and Kyle Rizenbergs have the ideal pitcher body frame. Both have the potential to play at the college level and beyond. Matt Miller on the J.V. team is a left hander that has been really effective. He keeps batters off balance very well. Brett Schmeing is a strong-armed third baseman that sometimes is on the mound. He is one of the most athletic players on the team. Ben Pelham is another bright spot for the Tigers. He, too, is very athletic and has had some catching time of the varsity level. There are many players with very bright futures on this team.

St. X is blessed with a lot of ability at the J.V. and freshman level. Although the freshmen took their first loss yesterday, it is unfortunate that they have not been challenged enough by the teams that they have played. I hope this team can be focused on setting goals and learning skills. They could be very special by the time that they are seniors if they develop. They have a number of players that would be starting varsity for other teams in Louisville. The freshmen team has 3 pitchers that are throwing in the 80’s – Zach Clooney, Matt Spalding, and Ryan Loehnert. If these 3 develop, by the time that they are seniors they could be a tough trio for opposing teams. Pete Eddings is a left-handed pitcher that could be troublesome coming in after the hard-throwing right-handers. One of the more interesting players to me is Daylen Hall, maybe because he comes from a “football family.” Daylen is a very fast, athletic center fielder. Although he has had very little, if any, formal training as a hitter; he is a very gifted player with a world of ability. There are a number of players on this team that can play at the next level if they continue to develop.
