Another kid who has taken some grief so far this season second basemen Brandon Lafever. All he did was to get a RBI, and ended the game with a nice catch that he turned into a DP.

 

In the second #6 of Ryle lined out to him.

In the third #2 of Ryle hit a Ground ball 4-3.

Hmmm I wonder why that is? I'm guessing his OBP is pretty high since many teams try to pitch around him. Not a bad call by Krumps though.

So in his eight plate appearances, he has reached base 4 times, and scored each time he has reached base....

I understand the idea is to make sure Maile gets pitched to, and last night he was pitched to every at bat, but you are only quaranted to come up in the leadoff spot once per game. After that it's random odds. And I would think your one and two hitters would get on base more then your eight nine hitters.

The last time Krumps put one of his best hitters in the leadoff spot it worked out pretty well. Sean Ryan had a great year and led the Colonels to the state championship. Ironically, he too was a catcher.

 

It didn't hurt to have a guy like Timmy Grogan hitting in the 3 hole, though.
