April 9, 200818 yr Doesn't this still qualify as a choke? I mean you lost a 9 pt lead with under 2 minutes to go. And it's not just the free throws. It's CDR trying to dunk on a KU guy with 16 secs left instead of pulling the ball out or passing to one of the 2 Memphis guys who were wide open and wasting some clock. It's not fouling the KU guys and letting them hit a 3 to tie it up (Brilliant!). The Memphis team's BB IQ cost them big.Smart players can make the difference down te stretch.
April 9, 200818 yr Biggest choke job since Mama Cass. Funny, but I believe the"Mama Cass choked on a ham sandwich" story wasn't factual. I think she died of a heart attack. Memphis choked on a Jayhawk sub.

Padgett said that choking was when a team/player fails to do something that they/he have been consistantly doing. Memphis has been incredibly INconsistant with free-throws all year as HT721 mentioned. Therefor, this can't REALLY be considered a choke with that logic, and I pretty much agree with that. Plus, with a team like Kansas, you shouldn't feel too safe even with a 9-point lead.

If you want to look at it that way, CRD and Rose had been lights out from the line all tournament and then missed the big ones.
