Conner is indeed the real thing at the moment! Good pitching, quality hitting, and great defense play, all the things to make you a winning team.

Might be a long season for you Old Guy. None of the three CCH pitchers were overbearing tonight. Not much pop in the bats either.

 

Other then some poor baserunning, Conner seems to be hitting on all cylinders.

I believe CCH threw two of their top guys - Neihaus and Sainola - and both got hit pretty hard. Time to officially mark down as Conner being the real deal.

Junior pitcher Will Schuttleworth went through 4 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run. In the 5th Schuttleworth could not find the plate,walked 4 batters and 3 hits, tying the game at 5. Schuttleworth was relieved by Josh Atanovich who struck out 5 Colonel batters in 2 2/3 innings:flame: The Cougars pounded out 12 hits and committed only 1 error. Offensive contributors were, Brake 2 1B, 2B, 2R, 2 RBI. Osuna 2 1B, 2R, 1 RBI, Hoskins 2 1B, 2R. Pugh 1BB, 3B, 2R. Thomas 3 RBI. Gill 2B.

Conner dominated this game on both sides.... Cov Cath's pitching was far from impressive and Conner took advantage... #13 and #17 from Conner kept the Cov Cath hitters at bay

Surely you are not looking at one game in early April as a predictor as to how a CCH season is going to go?

I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt that you looked back at the history of the program before saying that...but apparently you didn't.

 

What do they have now....5 of the last 10 regional titles or something. Not every one of those years started with them storming out of the gate. Many years started slowly, only to end with a similar result..the title.

All this game came down to was hitting. Conner absolutely T-ed off on all Cov Cath pitchers. The colonels didn't have the greatest hitting day but was not at all terrible. When the cougars put the bat on the ball (hard) all that Cov Cath could do was try and run balls down and make plays but it didnt seem to be enough. Everything was falling for Conner.

As Bluesport pointed out, (and that is why I said at the moment for the Conner team) baseball has a funny way of having teams go in and out of slumps. Even the best major league hitters and pitchers (and I am not at all saying that these CovCath players are major league players) have dry spells. I for one will just wait and see what happens in May.

 

I do think however that this CovCath team needs a team leader. No one that I can see this year yet, is the Josh Bleser of last years team. Meaning the one who stepped forward to chew out a player, or even the one who put his arm around a player telling him not to worry. This years version of the CovCath Baseball team has the talent, but it has yet to find it's heart and soul.

BTW, Conner needs to get there scoreboard fixed. Charging fans four dollars to watch a game, and not having a working scoreboard much less a mike letting the fans know what is going on is sad indeed. I would also appreciate if the umpire, at a field that doesn't have a working scoreboard, would give out the count a little more often.

 

Now before I get yelled at by a Conner fan, I was told what was going on by one of your senior parents who I know and it is indeed a shame, but still someone at Conner needs to let the fans know what at least the score is during the game.

 

The only reason I bring this up, is the number of times I was asked the score or the count by both teams fans. I don't understand why you can't have a student, or a parent between innings come out and yell out the score. I know that there was a bit of confusion in the stands as to what the score at one point in the game was.

 

This is just a suggestion, but if you are going to be charging a premium price to see a game, then you have (at least in my mind) the responsibility to give those paying the four dollars the score between innings.

Not trying to harp on your boys Old Guy, but I've been watching CCH baseball for quite a few years and the team I saw yesterday does not compare with any I have seen. Evedently Krumps felt the same way when he pulled the entire team down the right field line in the third inning for a good ole butt chewing. Could be the start and stop of a rainy season that has them off, but the weather didn't seem to effect Conner.

About this scoreboard issue... I believe Title nine plays a huge role in this issue about spending money when and where PUBLIC schools want... Cov Cath is a private school with private funding in which they can put toward athletics... Conner unfortunately doesn't have this luxury!

I agree completely. Not only is it hard for the fans but the players also. Fortunately Conner has odered a scoreboard and it should arrive anyday.
