April 4, 200818 yr Of course, that's always a big "if" with Wood. The Cubs should have made this move two or three years ago, especially after Wood was so dominant in a brief stint as a reliever in 2005. Instead, he underwent two more rounds of arm problems, and you never know what kind of toll that has taken on him. Yup, I was screaming make him a closer 3 years ago...Man I hate being right:D
April 4, 200818 yr Yup, I was screaming make him a closer 3 years ago...Man I hate being right:DDoes that happen very often? They didn't necessarily have to make Wood a closer. He would have been just as valuable in a setup role. The Cubs simply needed to put Wood in the pen to give him the best chance to stay healthy and contribute.

April 4, 200818 yr I think Soto will turn out to have a better rookie season than Fukudome. They're both doing really good!
April 5, 200818 yr Author Here we go--let's see if Jason "I'm not a bullpen guy" Marquis can shut down the Astros. In addition, this multi-million dollar payroll needs to provide some run support!
April 5, 200818 yr Author 5-2 Astros top of the 6th. We need a pitch-er not a belly itch-er. I know it's a long season, but crap crap crap!
April 5, 200818 yr Author Wooo! Fukudome doubles with Lee and Ramirez scoring--Cubs 7 Astros 5, botom of the 7th! 3rd pitcher this inning for 'Stros.
April 5, 200818 yr I think Fukudome is gonna be pretty good. I mean Wrigley field isn't that bad of a hitters park to begin with. I like his swing and his approach at the plate.
April 5, 200818 yr Author Right now he's certainly working out in the 5 spot. He has a lot of patience, something Cubs hitters have not been known for.
April 5, 200818 yr Author Reed Johnson just got caught stealing 2nd with two outs and DLee batting. Not a good idea! 9-7 Cubs heading into the 9th.
April 5, 200818 yr I like this team, in all there losses, they've been competitive and the stars haven't really been hitting prior to today, I can't wait till the big bats heat up. Not like Soriano will bat .048 all year...
April 6, 200818 yr They just aren't a clutch hitting team. How many times have they stranded runners at second or second and third already?
