Please tell me that you are referring to the Ryle fans and not the players. Even if you are talking about the fans that is still overall not the case:irked:.

Key words there are IMO. Think what you like but not everyone thinks Walt is the be all, end all in coaching. And if his summer club is the cats' meow little old Kentucky Kings should not be beating them every year...but they do.

I'm going to have to disagree. Doesn't Beechwood play schools like Villa, Dayton, Bellvue? Cov Cath has already played 2 teams in the top 10 in the state (Lex Cath and Henry Clay) in their first 3 games of the season. They also play GLC teams like Hamilton Badin and McNicholas. They play in Lexington against Louisville Male then back in NKY against Male again who is pre-season ranked 12 in the state. Not to mention they play West Jassamine who is pre-ranked 22 in the state. Another tournament in Boyd county who is 18 in the state. I'm pretty sure Strength of Sched. goes to Cov Cath by a LONG RUN.

 

 

 

Strength of schedule is Ryle hands down. CCH's is pretty good, but only thing that bugs me about them is that hole at second that must be filled.

I don't even know what IMO means.... Coach Terrel is arguably the best coach in Northern Kentucky... The way he produces players, again, is unbelievable. Ask the kids he coaches, there is noone else they would rather play for. Why don't Beechwood's elite players play for Meyerhoff in the summers or others in this region. You tell me in terms of development and respect how Walt is not the best around...

 

I believe 3 of Beechwood's top 4 pitchers played for Myerhoff last summer. Smith, Hadden, and Snyder. Also Adam Gohs (would have been top 5 hitter in the 9th last year if Beechwood reported stats. Also Trent Pickett, starting Right fielder for Beechwood and Chas Hyde Left fielder played for him. Oh and dont forget about 3b/ outfielder Brady slusher, he is just a solid 4 hitter! Also Chris Miller, starting catcher and starting second baseman Richie Williams, and 1st baseman Chris Morris played for Myerhoff in the summer of 06 but was too old this past year. The only player that played for the colonels from Beechwood was Cody Elliott, and where did he play the previous year??? Oh thats right, he played for Myerhoff. So please enlighten me on Beechwood's elite players that didn't play for Myerhoff over the last 2 years.:fight:

Few things you don't know here.. There is now way Chris Miller is too old to play for Meyeroff given he is only a junior I believe.. Secondly, I was at Walt's tryout the past two years, Chas Hyde, Trent Pickett, AJ Smith, Brady Slusher, AND their second basemen (don't recall the name) were all there... Brady Slusher mind you made the team, Aj Smith might have also. Meyerhoff, although he has a great program with the Lions, he is still second choice to Terrel's colonels.

 

And now a few things you dont know. Chris Miller is a senior. And all of those players with the exception of Trent Pickett are all too old to play for Myerhoff's team because he coaches a 16U team. I do not see how you compare a 18U team to a 16U team, but if you would like to throw in any other false assumptions then go for it. I would have to say Myerhoff has a great program with Lions and Beechwood, a lot more success in high school ball than Terrel has had over at St. Henry. :flame:

It is an 18U team... Again you don't know Hitchcock played for them this summer... I played against them...You don't know much with your false assumptions.

 

Hitchcock is a junior isn't he? And i believe if you are a junior you are either 16 or 17 years of age. Summer league rules state that you must turn 17 no earlier than May 1st, 2008 to play for a 16U team this summer. So last year that would make it May 1st, 2007. I am 100% sure that Myerhoff's summer team is a 16U team. Name one player that played for them last year that was 17 years old before May 1st.

1.Catcher from Beechwood Chris Miller is a senior .He played last summer for the Bluegrass Chiefs .He had some injuries ,so I'm not sure how much he actually played .I believe he is playing for them again this year ,unless he decides not to play college ball .

 

2.Comparing 16's and 18's is not a good argument .Both coaches do all they can to help the kids get better and get ready for college

 

3.Myerhoff is actually coaching a 15 year old team this year .Although if you look at the schedule you would not know it .It has several 16 - 18 year old teams .The roster has kids from several schools ,BW,Cov Cath ,Holy Cross ,Bellevue ,Boone,Ryle ,Dixie and I may be missing someone .

 

4.Slusher is playing for Walt this summer .

Don't need to watch one particular game to form my opinion, I watched many St Henry games over the years. Besides, I don't think it would have taken Joe Torre to manage a big win over Newport.

 

So, Speedy....when was the last time St Henry made it out of the Districts?

Having great contacts to get kids seen (which he most definitely does) does not necessarily equate to being a great coach or even a great developer of talent. Walt gets to put together a team of the best talent in NKY. He is not responsible for "producing" all this talent. What are the names of the top talent he has "produced" at St. Henry? Ask just about any kid at any of the top baseball schools in NKY (Ryle, CCH, BHC, Boone, etc) and they'll all say that there's no one else they would rather play for than their own head coach, so I wouldn't exactly consider that anything special. Walt is a very good coach, but keep it reasonable.

I'm keeping it reasonable. There were four players that played in college from last year's St. Henry team, would have been five if one would have not come down unfortunately with cancer. I'm just trying to let people in this thread know that Walt is a great coach but nobody believes so.

 

Not questioning your veracity at all, but who were these four/five players?

Craig Shanks Thomas More... Ben Kuebbing Transylvania... Nick Ryan Thomas More... and Adam Gilcrist St. Catherine

 

Shanks isn't on Thomas More's roster. Nick is on the roster, but not playing.

Don't know about the other two.

St. Henry made it to the regional semi's in 04' and 06' and have won the district in 70'

73' 93' 00' 01' and 02'. Ryles not the only school to win a 33rd district title DD. Also Kuebbing and Gilcrist are getting to play every once in a while, Nick not at all and Shanks was starting at 2nd and leading off for Thomas More before leaving after the fall semester, he is now coaching at Conner.
