Miss Basketball is going to be announced next week. Who is it likely to be and did the tournament change any minds?

Just like last year, the ballots were not due until after the completion of the state tournament. I want to say the they were due the 20 or 21st(today).

IMO, yes I think the tournament did have an effect on the outocome of Miss Basketball- Tia Gibbs will win. All year the talk was about Reid and Novosel and Gibbs was always 3rd but I think her consistient season and outstanding post-season performances will seal the deal. She had a monster state tournament despite not getting to play much in the final game - what she was able to do against Manual was very impressive. Reid was reasonably held in check by them in region but they (Manual) had no answer for Gibbs.

That is a great question. I would like to see Reid with better players around her. I hear in the summer Reid is unreal with players that can help. I think Gibbs may win but Mo will have a better college career.

Monique Reid or Tia Gibbs, if the voting is fair and unbiased.

I'm confused, what would have changed one of these two getting the vote if it had been unfair or biased? I can only assume you mean Novosel would have gotten the vote, but considering the grand total of Zero Lex Cath girls to have ever recieved Miss Basketball, I don't see a problem there. Then look at the city the girls you named versus Novosel is from and I see Louisville being a bigger bonus. Novosel has more hype I guess would be the final arguement, but I would think Reid had just as much if not more and I think Gibbs might be going to the best program of the three so who knows....

In all honesty, Gibbs deserved the award in the end for leading her team to the championship. All three girls really were one girl shows for their teams in the end. Novosel might have had the best supporting player in Green, however this year Green was very inconsistent. I don't know what the head to head was for Fern Creek and Butler if they played at all, but I also know that Lex Cath played Butler in December and beat them pretty soundly.

I understand everyone's point that you should reward a player who leads her team to a great season. However, the award in question is for an individual player and I think it is unfair to "punish" a player because her team isn't as good as someone else's team.

Gibbs led her team to the finals and that is great. Should she get more votes simply because her teammates are better than Reid's?
