Tia Gibbs had 21 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Butler who led 32-14 at half.

Marshall deserved to be there but I think Calloway County could have given them a better game. Don't think they would have beat Butler but could have played them closer.

I doubt it. Region 1 is just flat weak in girls' basketball, with only one first-round win in the last 10 seasons and all of the losses coming by double digits.

No excuses, but we did lose to the top team in state... 3 other regions did as well. Louisville Butler was so good that they won the state tourny championship without their best player. Also I think that last year the first region girls drew Lexington Catholic, so bad draws 2 years in a row doesn't help...

But Butler wasn't up 18 at halftime in any of those games, either.

 

Calloway lost handily to Montgomery County last year.
