At one point, I wondered if Coach Robinson was making a key coaching error. She went to a small lineup and had both of her taller players on the bench. Seemed like she was playing to Mason's strength instead of her own.

 

The lineup stayed that way for about 30 seconds and the Jelik girl came back in.

Congratulations to the Montgomery County Lady Indians on their 4th consecutive title. A phenomenal ball club that plays team basketball. Very disciplined on both the offensive and defensive side of the basketball. A couple things that stuck out in my mind include Montgomery places 4 players in double digits, seemed to claim almost every loose ball, and rebounded the basketball. Mason County holds Montgomery to 38% shooting on the night, but 12 points came off of 17 offensive rebounds for second chance points. Mason County had only 2 players that showed up really in the scoring column, had their hands on loose balls but unable to claim, didn't do a good job on the offensive boards. D. Chambers played great, Lacey Cline was great on both sides of the ball. Hit some amazing shots tonight much like last year at Montgomery County down the stretch and really played pretty well on M. Prewitt. Bottom line, Montgomery County showed why they are the best team in the region and go to Bowling Green and represent the 10th well.

The coaches from each team pick their own players. For example, Coach Buser picks players from her team to be on it. Mason County's all-tournament team was picked by Mason County coaches.

I'm pretty sure the coach votes their players in. I know it's that way for most other sports. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Which I think is a ludicrous way to do it. Maybe not such a big deal in the regional tournament with 7 of the 8 teams ending their seasons. But why would a coach put him/her self in a position to make other players unhapppy that they didn't get selected.

Except in our region, the same media is not there all 5 nights. So, the first round they don't see all 8 teams.

 

Your last paragraph is the reason why some postseason tournaments, especially districts, don't have an all-tournament team.
