I've seen this a lot and it's finally gotten on my last nerve, so I have to ask.

Why do fans of Team A sit on Team B's side? Not only do they sit on the other team's side, they sit in the front row and cheer harder than anyone in the gym for their team. They harass the players, the officials and make comments directed toward their opponents fans.

What's the reasoning behind this?

I don't mind where they sit. Some gyms offer better views on the opponent's side. However, regardless of which side you sit on, harassing players is unacceptable.

I did this once this year because I saw an old friend who's son played for the other team. I believe if one does this however, they must behave very differently than when they sit with their own fans. No justification in doing it just to be annoying.

I have also seen this many times before. But I have never seen a fan sit on the front row and try to become part of the game. There is no place for that in High School basketball. There should be immediate removal of that fan from the front row or atleast from the other teams side.:thumb:

Some visitors like to sit behind their players which is normally on the home side.

I have no problem with the bolded statement and totally agree with the italicized statement.

I might sit on the other teams side, but I would certainly respect them enough to be reasonable with my comments and actions.

 

Who wants to be "the fly in the ointment"?

I often sit on the opposing teams side when Mason plays their home games. But, I usually sit in the upper section of the Fieldhouse and don't cause a scene. I know exactly where you are coming from and what you are saying. I have seen it happen before and it is uncalled for. I enjoy talking with fans from other schools so I can get to know things about the other team.
