Anderson is beatable and they may already be thinking about the finals-which plays well for Walton. They will need to play a good game which they are capable of doing- but play the entire game like they played the last two quarters and they have a strong chance.

 

I would give the edge to Anderson.

Stars need to align for Walton to win...but it is possible. Dixon needs to stay out of foul trouble, and be a force down inside. Heeger, Nargessi, Cheeseman, etc. need to be on from the outside...and be pests on defense to keep Anderson Co. in check. But, the spoon that stirs the pot is Hargett. If Lauren really comes to play, Anderson will have their hands full. There's just very few teams that have a single player that can match up with her on both the outside and inside. If Walton wins, it'll likely be by single digits. If they take a quarter (or more) "off"...it could get ugly the other way. Good luck to the Lady Bearcats, though!!!

Anderson will turn up the heat on the ballhandlers that Walton Verona puts out there. Keep track of one stat--points off turnovers. Not having Krahl really hurts the Lady Bearcats. The inside game will not matter if the guards can't get the ball inside. Just ask Trimble County. Walton Verona needs for the game to be officiated tight.

Walton has the guards to handle pressure, it is will they use the correct ones. The young girls I have been tracking can handle the pressure. They will have turnovers, but if they have space and keep floor spread they wll be fine. Key for WV is rebounding, and team defense, but you are correct about refs need to call it like a b-ball game not hockey or rugby. Young guards are talented, but do not weigh 130 lbs. Remember this is not a SK defense, not even close. Ryle, SK, HC help prepare you for these games.

I agree, but I think Sargent (Normally Starter) can handle the pressure as well (Most of the time). The young girls can/do a great job (Last Game!). The thing that worries me is that they get hurt so much. Cheesemen has been in out of every game. It all depends how many minutes they can give us. If you have notice they normally get a injury and have to go out for period's at a time, it's hard to count on that. I just hope that they stay strong throughout the game and feed the ball to Hargett/Dixon down-low and Heeger for three's on the outside. If they can do that, I look for Walton to go far. :jump:

Fultz from Anderson is a great match for Hargett. I really like the way she plays and I would probably rate those 2 about equal..

 

Dixon may have problems with Milam. She is a great player and can really move you around.

You are correct about staying on floor for young guards, but the older guards have been hurt also. I do not think it is as much of a young thing but the fact that the refs are letting things get rougher as the years go on. The senior that got hurt was as strong as anyone on team, but still got hurt. I did not see game against Oldham, but I understand that young guards were big down stretch as well as terrific game by Hargett.

That's the key spread the floor stay out of the corners against the Anderson press. If you can get the ball to Cheeseman or Ginn in the middle of the floor they can beat anybody up the floor with the ball. Once they get to the middle the can draw and dish to either Hargett to take it to the hole or Heeger spotting up for the three. One thing I did notice the Walton guards starting to do well that the did not do at all early in the year, is when the defense is over playing them when trying to get the ball in against the press, they are learning to drive toward the ball then releasing allowing a pass overtop of the defense, then they are allready past the first layer of the press. They are deadly after that point with Heeger, Hargett, and Dixon all options at that point.

Half court has not been near the problem the press has been this year for Walton. But your right they will need to play well against both.
