Southwestern Overachieved. McCreary Central Underachieved.

Not sure how long this thread will last, but while we're here, here's a few of mine.

 

Overachievers, to name a few off the top of my head: Bryan Station, Clark County, Franklin County, South Oldham, Brossart, and St. Henry.

 

Underachievers, to name a few off the top of my head: Scott County (that's going to be real popular), Oldham County, was Ashland suppossed to be bad? If not they are on this list, if so then they are achievers. Boone County and Ryle have to be the biggest disapointments up north.

How about Walton as an overachiever all the talk pre-season was how bad they would be and they ended up having a decent season.

Simon Kenton however according to posters on here was supposed to be the next coming with the great JV team they had the previous year and while they did win their district I don't think it was the kind of year pre-season posters were predicting. Albeit in saying all this they still have the regional tournament to turn things around.

Since I only really follow the 10th and 16th that closely, I will throw in a couple.

 

I would say Clark Co and Bath Co and the previously mentioned Bishop Brossart overachieved. Who would have thought Clark Co would get 20 wins in essentially a rebuilding year and for Brossart to win another 10th All A title and play solid basketball at the end of the year.

 

Goes without saying that I can't imagine anyone would have put Bath Co in the top of the 16th at the beginning of the year.

 

I won't say anything regarding underachieving, because at the end of the day, we are all WINNERS!

A definite underachiever is June Buchanan from the 14th...

Scott County has been ranked in the top 4 all year. after losing thier best player. Over acheiver has got to be dunbar and under acheivers is Pineville, Tates Creek, Henry Clay.

JBS as an underachiever. They were expected to win the region and make a run at state but they got beat out first round of the district.

For the 16th Region this year, the underachievers would definetly be Ashland and Russell. Overachievers would be Bath and East Carter.

In the 13th Region Cumberland has lost a few more games than expected but can still redeem themselves with a strong regional tournament. Corbin was expected to be good and they have been. Other than the lopsided loss to South Laurel and being upset in the District Championship game the Redhounds have played well consistently throughout this season.

Over acheiver has got to be dunbar and under acheivers is Pineville, Tates Creek, Henry Clay.[/quote} Coach Stranges' Pineville team unfortunately like Coach Jones at McCreary Central will probably have an otherwise sucessfull season blemished by being upset in the first round of their District.

Even though the big kid was back JBS naver seemed to play as well late in the season after his injury. Was their entire team healthy for the District Game they lost?

Dont forget Raceland and West Carter, both put up better records than i would have though, even though WC's season is over. I would say that Bath is the biggest overachiever in the region though...and by a longshot. Hicks has to be the coach of the year in the region, when was the last time Bath was a factor in the regional tournament?

 

Biggest underachievers are Ashland and Fairview. Both were considered top 5 teams in the region pre-season by most people, both failed to live up to the hype, even though Ashland is still playing and could make up for the regular season a little bit with a good showing in Morehead.

It wasn't the big kid they lost this season it was Cox...and to the best of my knowledge everyone was healthy.
