March 2, 200818 yr Author Joe, Momma says its real "Hazy"... but I believe MR had to pitch what TG left him in three straight games. I know all the Yankee diehards are upset with TG. I remember ranting about the ex Sox that killed us. Where is TG today and where is MR? LOL--I can understand the Hazy part. I went back and looked up the box scores. In game 4 Gordon threw 2 scoreless innings, Rivera blew that one totally on his own. Gordon did leave him in a mess in Game 5 but Rivera still got the blown save--or course Gordon had gotten a double play ball to get Quantril out of a big jam the inning before he left Rivera in a mess. He didn't pitch at all in Game 6 and he pitched poorly again in Game 7--but the whole staff did since the Sox blew them out.
March 2, 200818 yr Steinbrenner ( no matter which one) has accomplished exactly what he wanted to. He has the Red Sox (city ) all fired up and has just re-lit the "Hate the Yankees" fuse all over. As usual the Red Sox and their fans along with other fans fell right into it. Steinbrennar is probably sitting back in hs easy chair laughing right now. Yankees vs. Red Sox 08', round 1 goes to the Yankees. I am o.k. with the Red Sox nation because it is a YANKEE UNIVERSE!!!!!

The Red Sox have done their talking on the field lately.
March 2, 200818 yr The Yankees can have all those verbal championships. The Red Sox have done their talking on the field lately. Ahhhhhh, nice to see that all is right with the world and the usual BGP Yankee and Red Sox fans are still present. I can certainly accept and respect you AJG as a Red Sox fan and have fun with the comments:lol::thumb:. What I have to question is all of the bandwagon Bosox fans in the last year or two. :sssh:. (is really a little early to really get into it a lot right now, U.K. is still playing basketball and I have to mainly concentrate on the Wildcats - LOL)

They seem to be everywhere. I think that is where Steinbrenner is way off base. They may be bandwagon fans but you find Red Sox hats, shirts and stickers where ever you go now--probably even moreso than Yankees stuff. I do have to say that it does bug me just a little bit to have some of these people pretend to be Die Hard fans but, what the heck if that's what winning brings I can live with it. :thumb:
March 3, 200818 yr It would be pretty hard to create a "Nation" of fans just because the Red Sox or ESPN wanted it--unless the Red Sox had done their part on the field. As for the bandwagon part, I'm sure that's true. However, if you look at it like that their weren't nearly as many Yankee hats running around out there until 96-00. :sssh: Success brings those type of fans--some of the ones wearing Red Sox stuff now might very well have been wearing Yankees stuff earlier. Steinbrenner comes across as a cry baby. They aren't used to having to chase the Red Sox and they aren't dealing with it well. Those poor, poor Yankees if only they got as much exposure and had all those advantages that the Red Sox had, maybe they'd have the same chance.....Oh wait.....:sssh: He's not crying, he's stating how he feels about the Red Sox. On the flip side, it's the same way the Sox front office feels about the Yanks. Difference is, they're not smart or dumb enough to say it publically... Yes, I said "smart or dumb enough". I can't decided which one this is...
