February 29, 200818 yr Europe favours Obama but Britons like Clinton Does this surprise anybody? Does it worry anybody? It doesn't surprise me in the least. Citizens of other countries are primarily interested in a candidate's willingness to cooperate in foreign policy matters. I think the support for Obama and Clinton reflects a desire to put an end to the "Go ---- yourself" style of foreign policy that has defined the Bush presidency. It also doesn't worry me. I would much rather have the political support of the citizens of the countries we consider our allies than have their scorn and distrust. I find it curious how some Americans are so dismissive of the opinions that people elsewhere in the world hold about our country. I also wonder if many of those Americans have ever traveled abroad, and if their attitudes are merely expressions of ignorance, xenophobia, etc.
