Sports always brings out the worst in people. Always has and always will. Some parents are simply obsessed with their son's and daughters and never ever see them as doing anything wrong. Even on this site ,some parents bash others on the team but never bash their own. I've read it time after time this year. Kinda makes you sick .

That used to be said about the athletes. I think todays it does the same thing for the parents.

I think parents need to watch games and enjoy them and let the coach do the coaching. You will not be able to keep their stats when they start work and don't get the credit they deserve. College coaches don't care about stats, they care about defensive quickness and effort, attitude, and your potential upside along with your potential to improve. The only stat they worry about is GPA. Seriously, college coaches go by what they see, not what they read(stats). I do understand that parents like to keep stats to save for their child, show their child, or encourage their child, but I think when used for extra coaching at home it only puts more pressure on the child. Learn to enjoy the game, let the coach do their job, and when it's over, it's over. It's a game used to teach life leasons about effort and team work. A whole lot less than 1% will ever make a living through basketball, let them enjoy it! If you will notice alot of kids get a chance to play at the next level but decide not to because they don't enjoy it anymore. Ever wonder why?

There is this thing called human behavior and its pretty significant in creating some pretty interesting forum talk.

The thing about keeping stats in the stands to me is totally ridiculous. What if everybody does their job and blocks their man out and the one guy who isn't gets the rebound. Do none of his teammates get credit for doing their job. Do you keep stats on the kid who made a good pick to free up Junior for an easy layup or just write down who scored the bucket? There is so much more to basketball than the player the stat is kept on that the ordinary fan doesn't see. I will never keep my childrens stats in the stands I want them to be team players first and put the team ahead of themselves. For those of you who keep stats to ease your nerves why don't you just try an enjoy the game your children don't need the added pressure of knowing Mom or Dad is nervous from them playing in the game. Remember this is highschool basketball and the earth is not going to stop because of the outcome of the game.
