Hunter Jones looks great in practices and will most probably be amazing on the field.

Brian Hamilton from Villa definitely doesn't get the respect he deserves as a hitter. One of the tops in the area last year against relatively tough schedule by Villa terms. His defense hasn't been the best at times at SS, but the kid sure can swing a good bat and is an all around great kid!

Does anyone know of any players that St. Henry have?

James Jones from Dayton High School is a very solid player. He has gotten his temper under control and plays very well when he has the right mental approach. Very strong hitter with excellent bat speed.

 

James Jones is a very talented player -- good kid too. Recently ran into him at the movies -- he was very polite and actually remember me from the old American Legion coaching staff. Never got the chance to coach him -- I always had the younger teams but got a lot of chances to watch him put it over the fence several times.

Newport has some good talented players this year. A lot of them were actually playing JV last season and didn't see too much Varsity time.

NCC will be tough this year. They should have a lot of returning players this year. Look for them to be in the race for the district and make a regional appearance.

There was a team around Newport that was good, they had a few players go to Newport. They could be a big help if they are on the team. Brandon Alford, Brandon Tucker, Brandon Sizmore, not sure if the names are spelled correct sorry.

Rumor has it Beechwood LF Chas Hyde injuried his ankle playing Wii boxing yesterday. It looks like he could miss the entire season. I wonder if he won the match?

Haha wow wii boxing does get pretty intense. If that story is true I feel sorry for that kid but it's hard not to chuckle about it.

That was the old American Legion team -- the Legion now has seven teams organized in the knothole league -- they are trying to build a feeder program for Newport High school and possibly other local area high schools like Bellevue, Dayton, Highlands and NCC. The Legion has produced several good plpayers that are now in the High Schools. You have Jones at Dayton -- this kid can flat out hit the ball -- my sources have been telling me that if you have a house on Berry Street in Dayton the is located behind center field at Gil Lynn Park -- you better put some boards on those windows. Jones was taking batting practice that other day and was landing shots on the front of those houses -- that is impressive! Another key player that have came from the legion is Meyers at NCC -- he's impressive -- this young man can pitch then there's Klaas at Newport -- another good pitcher. This young men all were coached by Bill Sizemore, Steve Jones and Shawn Alford -- all good coaches. But the legion is trying to create a feeder program that will hopefully help Newport and other area teams -- and the amazing thing is this it's all being headed by a former female student of Newport. :thumb:

I believe Mr.Hyde is going to be fine.The foot is healing nicely .The odd thing is he seems to missing part of an ear .......

I'm surprised to not see Cody Elliot on this thread yet, he is a D-1 player.

And by the way Hyde is not hurt. The ankle snapped in 5 places but he is back to running at about 8.74 mph. Just joshing about this but I saw him out of a boot.
