Theology and Religion are just that----they often have nothing to do with a personal relationship with Christ. However, the method of salvation is laid out clearly in God's Word . . . if you deviate from what the scripture says then you are simply wrong. Period. I didn't say that God did. Your beef is with Him. It has absolutely nothing to do with what I think . . . I shudder to think what my finite mind would come up with . . . my vain philosophy is nothing. My standard, anyone's standard should be and is God's Word. Joel Olsteen says he can't know if there is more than one way to heaven yet the Bible clearly says that there is only ONE way. He is wrong. If you want to believe otherwise you go right ahead---I choose to believe the scriptures, pure and simple. Taking verses out of context to "fit" with a personal philosophy is not teaching the bible IMO. It might sound good, pass the "feel good" test, even help us deal with problems we may face but it is not the bible and the whole counsel of God. If you listen to what they are truly saying and then compare it with the Word the Holy Spirit will give you discernment. My advice to anyone listening to these "philosophers" is be careful.

I read Billy Grahams book last year and in the picture section was many pictures of Billy and every president since Harry Truman.

 

He was real proud of the fact that he had some wonderful relationships with every president. He mentioned many times how he would get phone calls late at night from them and Richard Nixon called him the most.

What role have we played in allowing those young africans to die of AIDS who have never heard the word, is their blood on our hands for not doing more. What about the Muslim children that died in the most recent war, are we responsible for their souls since they died at the hands of America before we delivered the scripture to them?

Given all of this lively discussion, I am no preacher (obviously) but I would lend my support to the individual person whose policies fall in line most with the teachings of Jesus. Which I believe (outside of the abortion question) are all pretty far left.

 

I also think it is okay for a minister to talk about social issues from the pulpit. As a matter of fact, I would say she has a responsibility to do so. Jesus preached a social message himself. The Gospels and the rest of the new testament are not all about the afterlife, they are about bringing about God's kingdom here on earth through love, compassion and mercy.

But that if he has not heard that message, than yes, Scripturally there are INDICATIONS, nothing firm, just indications that there are other ways.
