westsider Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Duncan was the defensive coordinator at Lone Oak last season and is a former assistant at Larue County, Fort Knox and Elizabethtown. His son, Zipp Duncan, is a starter on the offensive line at UK.
WKYfootballguy Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Very good hire, should make Murray competitive next year...Very well respected around the Paducah area in the short time he was at Lone Oak!
Ram Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 What kind of offense is Duncon going to run? Is he going to bring a pass oriented attack?
Wildcat77 Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Read in the paper where he was an asst. coach under Joe Jaggers for several years where they won 2 state championships and 1 Runner-up at Ft. Knox.
bellalumni40 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Congrats to Duncan. I know he has been looking for a head job for a while. Good luck to him. What does Murray have coming back?
kentuckysports Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Murray loses a lot of size, mostly their entire O-line but didn't lose a single skilled position. Duncan will probally have a run offense, lead by Jamie King, but will still use the spread. Hopefully this will be the tigers season but they still face a grueling schedule? Does anybody know about Trigg or Caldwell, what they're getting back?
westsider Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 I wouldn't call Murray's schedule "grueling" ... it's not bad by 2A standards, but it's not exactly a murderer's row, either.
diamondog Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Read on another board that Murray's John Bell is possibly going to Heath as OC. Which other Murray staff will stay and which will go? Seems it's tough to get help at Murray right now with their financial crunch. With Jamie King in the backfield and a suspect passing game do you think MHS might go back to Rick Fisher's running philosophy? Seems like a good time to do it with the avalable talent.
kentuckysports Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Jon Bell has accepted the OC job at Heath. The other assistant coaching jobs are up in the air right now, as well as many other things. I highly doubt Murray will return to a solid run offense, I believe they will use a 50/50 run pass offense. Murray is not short on talent, that is forsure. Like I stated before, they did not lose a single skilled position on ethire offense or defense. Hopefully Duncan can get everything together and make Murray the team to beat in 2A.
