Final...

Augusta was led by Chris Mofford with 25 pts 12 rbs and 7 blks

Dustin "Shooty" Staggs 21 pts 12 rbs

Ryan Kelsch 14 pts

Brayde Hamilton 14 pts

Augusta played their hearts out just came up short in the end.

The Panthers tried at times to run with Newport and that was a mistake. When they slowed the pace and played their game they were in it. No points from our guards and 10-19 FT shooting did not help the cause. All in all I was very impressed with the effort from both teams.

Newport 12 23 12 18 10

Augusta 15 19 13 18 9

JV Augusta 51 Newport 46

Steven Gibbs 14, Joseph Gray 12, C Fraysure 8, J Kelsch 8, R Kelsch 7,

H Kiskaden 2

Tough back to back losses for the Panthers. Would'nt want to be their next opponent. Congrats to Newport on a hard fought win.

They did beat Cov. Latin Monday night. But this is two tough recent losses. Next up will be the Polarbears of Bracken Co. Which reguardless of records, will be another battle.

The Panthers seem to be star-crossed this year. No team should have to be on the short end of so many close losses.

With that being said Augusta rolls into Alexandria next Tuesday night and I would hate for that one to be the one that gets them over the hump!

Congrats to the Panthers - even in defeat - for the valiant efforts this year. You have to look beyond your win-loss record to measure the success that your team is having this season.

Augusta and Bracken will be a good one, when and where is it?

Another tough/close loss for Coach Kelsch and the Panthers. Chris Mofford is having a great second part of the season. What a stat-line for this kid!

Augusta/Bracken Co. is always a battle, those border wars are always interesting!

Newport is a solid team and this is a game Augusta should have won. A lot of FT and layup opportunities that were blown. Nice effort and yes and very good game by Staggs and Mofford.

This Friday will be a fun one as Bracken Co. continues to improve!

Hopefully they will take their frustrations out on the Polar Bears Friday night! :fight:

Friday night at the Panther Den.

Friday night at the Panther Den.

A Bracken/Augusta game at The Den is always has a great atmosphere. Hopefully the Panthers can bounce back.

Tough loss for Augusta. Nice effort though against an athletic Wildcat team. I am starting to think the Kelsch name in Augusta is as prominent as the Pelle name down in the Grove. : )
