Would love to hear details of this game. Especially from the Ludlow standpoint!

Crittenden is a nice player, but For some reason Ludlow never adjusted to what she was doing. I would guess she scored 3/4, or more, of her points on run-outs/cherry picking. Over-n-over Ryle would rebound, turn, and hit her on the other end for pretty much an uncontested lay-up. On the offensive end, Ludlow could pretty much score "at will" with their post players, but they only used them in spurts.

 

If Ludlow gets someone back on defense and pounds the ball inside on offense...they are in position to win that game. IMO, their coach spent too much time worrying about the ref's than making adjustments.

I have seen both teams play at different times, and I am not sure that Ludlow is as good as Ryle. That isn't an insult, just my opinion. They do have GREAT post players. But Ryles point guard is very good....

There is no need to bait the Ludlow folks into responding. I was there and have an unbiased opinion. You asked for details.

 

I've seen Ludlow play 4-5 times and they have been pretty consistent and coach Stamm does a good job. Ryle was absolutely getting killed on the high-low and put-backs in the paint. Ludlow was getting killed on the run-outs. It seemed that sending a defender back would have stopped several easy baskets.

 

The ref's were not very consistent and had the gym in a tizzy. I believe it became a big distraction. It happens to a lot of good coaches and good teams. To their credit, the Ludlow girls played with heart and would not quit.

That is good to hear that it was a good game and that both teams played hard. It stinks when refs ruin the game, but it happens and it is one of the factors you can't let affect you as a player or coach.....

 

Ludlow still has Holmes left and stands a good chance there of beating a team to earn them some respect!

 

Ryle is young and keeps getting good play and should continue to get better!

I was at this game as well, and you confused me here a bit because if you was there like you said. Then I confused with how you came up with this opinion. I know everyone has their own opinion though.

 

The game was close throughout the first half, and then Ryle went on a big run to end the half. Then in the second half it was pretty much even through out as well, it was just that one big run that made the difference. You say that Ludlow should have concentrated on pounding the ball inside, and the coach could have done something to make sure that happened. However I mean it sure seemed like to me that he was wanting the ball to get down low, and every single entry pass down low, you had a Ryle player going through the ludlow player to knock the pass away. So that is a big reason why you seen Coach Stamm get on the refs, because with the Refs allowing the Ryle players to just push and go through the Ludlow players to knock the ball away, it made it very hard to get it to the post. Then also Ryle was just packing it inside, and leaving Ludlow with a lot of good looks from the outside, and Ludlow had players shooting who were good outside shooters. However they just could not get them to fall. IMO that is the biggest problem for Ludlow when they play these better teams. When Ludlow plays the team in the conference and have these opens shots they usually always make them. Then when they play these teams and have the same open shots, they don't make them. I don't know what the reason is for this, maybe the girls just think to much in these bigger games and that effects their shots. I know if Ludlow makes these open shots like they usually do against everyone else, they would be just fine. However I guess the pressure of the big games maybe get to them or something. They need to find away to overcome this somehow, and just play loose and confident all the time.

Because she is really good. I mean I was at the game, and I was just so impressed with her all game long. She is quick, can handle the ball, and knows how to finish around the basket, and just really makes it look easy. I thought all this before I even found out that she is just an 8th grader! :eek:

 

I know I sure we will be hearing her name a lot in the next 4 years, because she is going to be a great one.

I watched her and the Moss girl at a Villa tourney and was equally impressed. If Ryle holds on to this duo then I suspect there is a Region title in their future.

FC - Just sharing my thought's. You gave your assessment and I'm sure it will be completely opposite if we hear from a Ryle fan. I'm a typical "bleacher" coach and I shared what I thought were keys to the game. Not right or wrong, just my two-cents.

 

It would make for a pretty boring discussion if we all see the exact same game. Your girls played with heart and I know the fans are proud. They may get another shot at Ryle in the regional tourney and they'll know what to expect. Good luck the rest of the way!
