McCain is a lot closer to a real Republican than anybody the R's have trotted out since before I entered high school; in fact, he's probably the most legitimate real Republican since Ike, and Eisenhower first ran for the White House long before I was born. That's probably the primary reasons the GOP's current leading lights are squirming -- they aren't real Republicans and they don't know how to deal with a real Republican.

Aside from the Iraq War, there is not much difference between McCain's positions and those of Hillary and Obama. You are entitled to your opinion, but if McCain is a "real" Republican, then there is not much need for a two-party system. It would not take a very big tent to shelter McCain and his liberal pals.

I believe that you will be very disappointed in the people who President McCain would appoint to the US Supreme Court. McCain is on record saying that Samuel Alito is too conservative for the Supreme Court.

 

McCain is unlikely to do nothing to make overturning Rove v. Wade more likely. As I posted in another thread, McCain even negotiated with Democratic Party leaders in 2001 about switching parties.

 

Because of his family's distinguished military tradition and his own service I believe that McCain would work to keep our military forces strong. Aside from that, I really do not believe much of anything McCain has to say.

I honestly do not think there would be much difference. Senate Democrats will be controlling the confirmation process and McCain has shown no inclination to butt heads with his good friends Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and the other liberals who control the Judiciary Committee. If the appointees of Obama and Hillary would be marginally less liberal than McCain's appointees would be, it would matter very little in the balance of power on the court.

 

Do you believe that McCain will appoint the type of SC justices who might overturn McCain-Feingold, who are the same type of judges who would be most inclined to overturn Roe v. Wade?
