Carroll played a really good 3rd quarter. Congratulations, Panthers! One game at a time.

Carroll started out with an 8-2 advantage but with a less than a minute to go, Williamstown took the lead on a Zach Anglin jumper. The Demons led after the first 8 minutes, 10-8. Williamstown turned up the intensity extending the lead to 9 points 22-13 with three and ½ to go in the half, but Carroll pulled back within 2 at the halftime buzzer, Willianstown led 25-23.

 

Cody Proctor from Carroll County won the ClassX Free Throw Challenge during halftime hitting 8 shots.

 

Carroll retook the lead at the start of the third quarter and kept Williamstown unbalanced throughout the period. That along with 13 points from Will Yager and a Panther total of 28 put Carroll County up 51-39 going into the final 8 minutes. Carroll came out in a zone in the 4th quarter to force the Demons to shoot outside. Williamstown made a couple of three pointers in a row to cut the deficit to 6 with 5 minutes to go. That forced Carroll back to man coverage as Williamstown trailed by 4 with 3:58 to go in the game. Carroll extended the lead to 6, but a couple of missed free throws by Zach Anglin with 1:45 to go and 4 made Panthers free throws put the game away as Carroll advances in the 8th Region all “A” Tournament with a 67-56 defeat of Williamstown.

Congrats to the Panthers, they looked good and played as a team, they really kept their head in the game. Both teams had a lot of nice 3 point shots that kept the game going back and forth.

 

I always know when we have a NKY ref, he is going to make sure to keep it close. I was happy with the way the boys responded. No Technicals and level headed.

We cannot talk about the Panthers in this game without mentioning Will Yager. He really stepped up for the Panthers in the third quarter. He is a great player with a great attitude. I always love watching this kid play. Best of Luck to the four teams that remain! :thumb:

Do you know how many 3 point shots he made? It was great that he got hot in the 2nd half!

Im not sure how many he made all together. But in the third, I heard his name quite a bit!

Panthers can't overlook Friday's game. It is not an automatic lock to the Finals. Good game overall. Still some mental mistakes and playing a little flat. Yager, Cable and Hendrick were definitely the spark for the team.

I believe he had 3 in the third quarter. He had 13 of his 18 points in the 3rd. We talked to Coach Miller about that after the game. Talk about someone stepping up and taking control!! Will had a great game.:thumb:

I really thought the whole team played well, they found the open man and got the ball to them.

 

Very unselfish as a team and it worked for them.
