St. X Swiming - Why do they never enter the private/public discussion?

Featured Replies

In discussions about football, we discussed how nice it is to have a good feeder system. I don't know to what degree it's still this way (as I know next to nothing about competetive swimming) but the teams at Lakeside (which is not very far east of X) have long been a pipeline for future Tiger swimmers. It also helps to have your own pool.

Ain't that the truth:thumb:. I do understand the best of the best do not practice with the "team" at St. X. They work at their club, as mentioned before, usually Lakeside.

The "shaving your body" for a sleeker travel through the waters is a heckuva sacrifice for the good of the team.;)

Out of the 20 Swimmers that made the St. X State Team this year, only 6 train off campus. The other 14 train on campus with the rest of the 139 swimmers. It has been this way for the last 10 or 12 years.

I have known several X swimmers who would have gone to Trinity had they not developed into 1st class swimmers along the way. St X swimming program is a self fullfilling prophecy, no need to recruit here. All good swimmers want to be there.

That long streak, which I thought was 20 instead of 19, was started before the pool arrived. The pool was more of a well deserved reward for success, IMO. Doesn't PRP and many others have pools?

An interesting note I made elsewhere before seeing this thread: ST X has lost :madman: to Cincy St X for the last 20 years in swimming. Cincy X is #1 in US. Obviously a warm climate is irrelevant in HS swimming. :sssh:

One last thing we can do...have X swimmers wear drag suits when competing. :D

You mean they have to dress like Ru Paul while swimming?;):sssh::D

ladiesbballcaoch, you have had some good one liners over the last year or so, that might be the best. Funny, disturbing but funny.

The team lost in the dual against Cincy X, but did beat them in December at another meet.

However, having money and resources is required to be a top swimmer. The field will never be level in swimming.

At St. X there are close to 1,400 students. Of those 1,400 I would say at least 700 are involved in KHSAA athletics. Then there is the Intramural program in which at least another 400 students are involved in a wide spectrum of sports. Besides athletics there are 30 to 40 other clubs and organizations that involve students of all abilities and interest. Involvement in the school community aspect of education is a very important part of the school’s mission.
