Greg had food poisioning.

 

Highlands played tough without him, but hit a wall (think it was early fourth) when they really struggled to score. Also gave up a few easy buckets underneath. The combination turned out to be deadly. If SK could shoot at all, Highlands would have been in trouble, because they were giving the Neers some very good looks from behind the arc and medium range jumpers all night.

 

SK had some interesting/entertaining fans last evening.

No McGraw or Simpson?

 

No McGraw--No Simpson----No surprize!! Good win for SK, and great experience builder for the "rest of the 'Birds". Willie & Company wll be fine if they can get Simpson back for March, and somehow nurse McGraw through the season; the experience the rest of the kids are getting now will pay benefits in a month or so!!

There were a lot and I mean a whole lot of kids at Highlands out sick yesterday, including my son, so there probably is some truth to Greg being out sick. We live close to Highlands and normally all the spots near my house are taken by kids parking. According to Henry, none of the spots were taken, which means there were a lot of kids out yesterday.

 

Makes sense, my daughter was out sick at Highlands and I feel rather blah today. How did the Sophs play for the Birds? Did Grubbs have to defend Meagley?

Comment about SK- it seemed whoever Steiner inserted into the game contributed something positive. SK's shooters had a rough night but the kids who usually hit the shots- Barnes, Slavey eg., had some nice drives to the basket. Snyder had several nice plays, Dressman had some huge rebounds down the stretch and really was key. During the last 3 minutes SK got the ball into Maegley and he scored maybe 6-8 points. Highlands had no answer for his size when he went to work. This had the feel of some of the games that SK let slip away earlier in the year so it was nice to see them finish regardless of who was or wasn't playing.

My second time watching SK and don't understand why their coach substitutes some of his starters early in the first period when they are not in foul trouble or tired and are playing well. Being a past player myself, I can definitely say that I would not have been able to thrive or get into the flow of the game if I was taken out half way thru the 1st quarter.

 

Maybe SK needs to turn loose some of their players and see what this team can really do.
