District Seeding Question

Featured Replies

I am curious about the 62nd district's seeding procedures.

East, Elliott, Morgan all defeated West Carter.

However each of those three schools split games with the other two.

That makes for a three way tie for 1st place in the district. West is winless.

Prior to district tourney, how is the seeding now set up?

I know there is some contingency plan to determine positions, does anybody know what it is?

It is my understanding that if Elliott beats West they will be the #1 seed in the district. I believe if they lose to West and East beats West the Lady Raiders would be the one seed. Morgan would need both to lose and beat West to be the #1.

This came from a coach in the district.

Can you lose AND win the same game?

Well, at least is is simple....ouch...my weak mind can't comprehend all that...ha.. I guess I'll just wait and see.

Morgan holds the tiebraker over Elliott, as a result of their head to head games this season. East holds tiebreaker over Morgan head to head, Elliott holds tiebreaker over East head to head, and Morgan holds tiebreaker over Elliott. So what each needs is the following: East needs West to beat Elliott if that happens East is 1, Morgan 2, Elliott 3, West 4, Morgan needs West to beat East if that happens Morgan 1, Elliott 2, East 3 West 4. Elliott is sitting pretty because with the three team tiebreaker Elliott is #1. Don't never count out West Carter and Coach Perry.

When it comes to head to head with two teams it goes by points up to 15.

East beat Elliott by 4 and Elliott beat East by the max 15 points, so Elliott holds a 11 point advantage over Elliott

East beat Morgan by 6 and Morgan beat East by 4 so East holds a two point advantage over Morgan

Morgan beat Elliott by 7 and Elliott beat Morgan by 6 so Morgan holds a 1 point advantage over Elliott.

All of this is just head to head. When it comes to 3 team tiebreaker that is a lot more complicated from what i have been told.

There is no limit on the points.

Tiebreakers are in this order:

1. Head to head- if Elliott, Morgan and East all win their last game against West they would all be 4-2 in the district and 2-2 against each other with all games being split and remain tied.

2. Point differential among all 3 teams tied- Elliott is a +12, Morgan is a -1 and East is -11 so Elliott would be 1, Morgan 2 and East 3

3. Winning percentage among the teams tied excluding any tournaments that you play in.

4. Coin flip.

On the bolded, we do the same thing in the 56th district, but only count up to 15 point wins to prevent teams from running up the score for seeding purposes. So, if Team A defeats Team B 70-50, and later, Team B defeats Team A 85-50, they're still tied on point differential.

A coin toss decides seeding if there's a tie on points.
