I was told earlier today the Coach Hood was in Richmond visiting in laws and interviewing for the EKU job. Then it was reported on the lexington news.

I would love to see him get this job!

No kidding from what I have seen Dean is a class act.

I also heard Guy Morris could be a candidate and Georgetown College coach Bill Cronin. Has anybody else heard these two names pop up on the list?

I had heard that when the job was open the first time that Coach Bill Cronin was a top option? Does anyone know a time frame on this job search?

What about Chuck Smith? Is he ready to lead again?

I do not believe Coach Smith wants that kind of commitment or responsibility. I believe he loves his job where he is.

I thought Cronin should have been considered the first time it came open. I was never sold on Danny Hope. I thought he did a alright job but not great. Cronin has done a excellent job at Georetown and some of his best teams could have competed with EKU's worst teams, probably would not have won but they could have made it interesting, IMO.

Cronin or Hood would probably recruit Kentucky kids harder than Hope did.

Hope recruited Kentucky kids just as hard. The kids he recruited ended up signing to WKU, out of state or at D-1 schools. Kentucky has been producing some quality athletes lately more then ever, but it still isn't as many as it would be in one county in Florida. I know it makes me mad, but it's the truth. You can't fault the program for recruiting a Kentucky kid and the Kentucky kid decide to go elsewhere. What do you expect them to do? Give a scholarship to someone that isn't deserving? We also got to remember that they are limited on scholarships. They can only sign around 11-15 guys a signing period. If they sign more then that then some of those kids are on partial scholarships. One example would be the Holland kid from Perry County Central. He committed to EKU and Wake Forrest came in late and offered him a scholarship and he took it. He is a Kentucky kid they recruited hard and committed....HE decided that he wanted to go elsewhere. It's fortunate that he transferred to EKU after a season or two at Wake, but you understand the point.

Thats not true. Just because they don't offer a kid they think is worthy of a scholarship doesn't mean they don't recruit Kentucky hard.

Coach Dean Hood coached at EKU during Kidds years. His wife is from Richmond, KY. He was at Ohio U with Coach Grobe, and then went to be the DC at Wake Forest where he is currently. He has strong KY ties and recruits KY hard. He is a great coach and even better guy, I know Coach Hood pretty well, he would be great for EKU. He is rumored to be in position to take Coach Grobe's job sometime in the future if he was to leave or retire. From what I am told Coach Grobe has encouraged him to get a head coaching job if he has any aspirations to be a HC in D1-A (sorry bowl sub division..?? what) . I also was told by people close to the source he turned down the Michigan DC job last month, not 100% sure on that thou. For the record I would love to see him get this job.
