January 18, 200818 yr Coach Dean Hood coached at EKU during Kidds years. His wife is from Richmond, KY. He was at Ohio U with Coach Grobe, and then went to be the DC at Wake Forest where he is currently. He has strong KY ties and recruits KY hard. He is a great coach and even better guy, I know Coach Hood pretty well, he would be great for EKU. He is rumored to be in position to take Coach Grobe's job sometime in the future if he was to leave or retire. From what I am told Coach Grobe has encouraged him to get a head coaching job if he has any aspirations to be a HC in D1-A (sorry bowl sub division..?? what) . I also was told by people close to the source he turned down the Michigan DC job last month, not 100% sure on that thou. January 19, 200818 yr Thats not true. Just because they don't offer a kid they think is worthy of a scholarship doesn't mean they don't recruit Kentucky hard. I don't know who you are or who you think you are or what experience you have with eastern. Don't tell me I didn't have coversation with MULTIPLE coaches who were very unsatisfied with E.K.U. recruiting practices.:fight:

I know the inside story on what goes on at EKU. Sorry that you feel that EKU doesn't recruit Kentucky kids. They do...those kids end up going other directions. January 19, 200818 yr In my honest opinion, as long as Coach Kidd is alive and kickin',there is no way Eastern hires anyone that does not have VERY strong EKU ties. If they get Coach Hood it would be a steal, however, you might find yourself in the same spot again in a few years. Larry Marmie would be another steal but may be hard to pull him from the League.

As you just mentioned all the candidates have EKU ties, so it makes sense that Kidd would have a say in the matter....which he does. Probably the reason that Cronin would have a hard time getting the position.....that is if he wanted it to begin with.

He said that the move up to D1-AA was the interesting part, but the money and presser wasn't. Cronin made as much as they were offering at EKU and he is a legend at Georgetown with not as much presser on him if any at all. So, I would think if he was offered the position that he may not take it.
