It isn't like Tubby left Billy G a bunch of 1 and 2 star recruits. This team won over 20 games last season. They started off A LOT better than 6-7. Sure the injuries have hurt them but still. Sure, give Billy G time, but I don't think he will come close to the success Tubby had at UK...

Back in the day I said we should sign Rich Brooks to a lifetime Contract...Everyone said I was Crazy...

We also were not a household name program in football. Expectations and results are/were different for the two sports. NC did not waste a lot of time when they were getting mediocre a few years ago. We have won games the last few years, but have not had the desired results and everyone is just getting frustrated with the wait.

I guess expectations. The football team wins 8games and were thrilled. If the basketball team dont make the final 4 or win 25games and win the SEC its disapointing to alot.

There wasn't a lot of interest in the UK job when Brooks got it. Third choice I think? The same can be said for the UK basketball job. Donovan turned it down. Wasn't BCG the third choice also? More similar than one would think.

Wouldn't eight wins and a bowl win in football be the equivalent to a final eight or final four in basketball?

That would be like 20 wins and a Sweet 16 or second round birth...

 

10-12 wins, and a BIG bowl win are equivalent to a final four or elite eight...

I think its just because people remember the glory days of the 90's and now thats what they expect every year, but its not realistic. The football team is getting to the point where bowl games are expected and missing out on one wouldn't be good. Once something good happens for UK, many fans will always expect that again every season even if its not realistic

I'm just saying. I know he is gone, but he is a lot better coach than Billy G. Because Kentucky basketball fans can't be patient. It's impossible. Football is different. If UK football has the success that UK basketball has, then it would be different...

Human nature. Recency theory. We struggle to believe that things will be different than they are now.

 

And its certainly not limited to UK fans. Just look at UofL.
