This thread amazes me. Pineville was all the stuff in the preseason and now that they had one bad game and still managed to win everybody is on their back. One person even said other than Strange and Day Camp'the rest of the Pineville team couldn't make Lynn s top ten. These players have proven they are winners and they do what it takes to win no matter who it is (Cumberland, who they've never lost to, or Lynn Camp) for the past 5 years. I think its funny none of Pineville's critics said anything when Pineville beat Alabama's #10 team out in Bowling Green. This Pineville team will be fine, just like last year's team ended up fine. Go ahead and bury Pineville like you did last year, and they will win just like they did last year. I'm sure these kids love your bulliten board material. :thumb:

If you will read the post again I stated I was not putting down the rest of Pineville's players they are well coached and know their roles very well, but potential wise I stand by my statement LC has several with more talent. I don't know if Pineville has lost to C'land over the last 5 years or not but I remember a couple of years ago their loss to LC in the district after blowing them out in the regular season.

Pineville is a top five team in the region, I don't think that's in question. When any of the top five teams lose, we always question them. Just good harmless sports talk. When they beat Cumberland in the All A region we will be back on their bandwagon.

Pineville is one of the better coached teams you will watch in the 13th no question about that, if they can beat C'land IMO that would be a big, big, upset, could happen I guess.

Pineville played Cumberland well last season. Both teams are content on playing.... I will run my set and you run your set against both defenses in the half court. Not sure if Cumberland can outcoached the Lions, but they sure can out athlete them. It would not surprise me to see Pineville win the All A, especially if the officals call the game tight and do not allow the Skins to be hold, grab, handcheck, etc.. The Pineville, homegrown kids might really step things up. This is their best shot for many years to come. It is put up or shut up time for the Lions. But the same can be said for the Skins...who knows .....maybe Harlan will win it all again or Dinky may work his magic.

If Lynn Camp can get by Dinky's magic in the frist round and with the final four in their gym anything could happen. Who assigns the officals in these games? Does the regular assigner do this or the All-A representive for the 13th? Just wondering.

Eric Canady assigns the the officals as far as I know. Dinky is the 13th region rep for the ALL A, so he has some say in which offical gets to go the ALL A state tournament. The Magic of Dinky may work up 50 free throw tosses for the Tigers as well...lol

It would surprise me greatly to see Pineville win the All A. They simply won't do it. They have a solid team, but they are by no means great IMO. I like their coach and I think they have a pretty talented team as well, but Cumberland will not lose to Pineville period.

Out coach? You believe that the reason Cumberland has had success is because they are athletic? No respect for their work? By the way there are plenty of athletic teams in the region besides Cumberland, who really are not as athletic as they look.

Which kids is that? All of them went to the County schools growing up except Jeffries.

 

JD does do more with less. Strange and Day carry them. But JD has got the other kids playing their roles flawlessly. To win in any level you better have a PG and big, p'ville has both.

Having 2 of the top ten players in the region is not bad. I think coach Strange is one of the top 3 coaches in the region. But, his son is a player, and Day is probably the most experienced and fundamentally sound true big man in the region. Don't try and make it seem that they are over achievers. How many teams in the region have two players that can get you 30pts on any given night. Or even 40. So IMO they are as capable as anyone. Thats because they have a great coach and great players that can match up with anyone in the region.

The coach can match up with most any in the state, the top two anyone in the region, after that I'm not sold, but good luck to them the rest of the way!
