Also, Strange had 42 and hit 20-of-28 from the charity stripe.

Strange is a good coach, but they do have two of the region's top 10 players (Day and Strange) in the region, so they have some pretty good talent that Strange has helped form the past four or five years.

Maybe those players other than Day and Strange look better most of the time this was the first time I have seen them this year, but IMO tonight they were below average at best. I'm not saying they didn't know what they were doing but not very big, not very fast, etc.. LC has way more talent.

Ummm, Pennington learned a lot from West at Willaimsburg and Lynn Camp.

that's what I meant.

Ok I understand you now, I'm sure Pennington learned some things from West but what LC does now is much different from what W'burg did back then IMO.

It would appear that offensively that they are VERY good, but defensively they are VERY bad. If LC could play a little more defense THEN they could be a player in the region.

Lynn Camp may surprise some teams this year. Pineville came in very highly touted and the Campers almost knocked them off. Congrats to LC on the effort. Congrats to Pineville for pulling it off.

I think Pinevilles got better players than people think, Warren can fill it up when he gets hot, and Jefferies is probably the best roleplayer I've ever seen on a team, he does the little things that matters, he can shoot, drive, dribble, whatever the team needs out of him, Number 35(I think his name is Lambin maybe) can play very good defense, I saw him a couple of times, he may not score much but he brings a lot to the table on the defensive end. Not to mention Strange and Day, these two could be the best guard/center combo in region....I'd really love to see a Cumberland/Pineville matchup.

All you need in high school basketball is two really good players, and when they are your point guard, and your center. A shooter and some role players mixed with a little defense you have a recipe for success.

Pineville has a nice team and obviously Lynn Camp has some kids that can shoot a bit, but both teams seem to really play well against teams that are not known for their defensive abilities. I would have thought Pinevile would be able to take care of business better than this against a team that is mostly one demensional, but it takes a team committed to defense to handle a pretty good offensive team. Bottom line, these teams score tons of points on each other, but against athletic defensive teams like the Cumberland and Corbin they would both probably score in the 40's or 50's.

Have you seen Lynn Camp play?

Not sure or how many the Lions hit but the paper had them shooting 51 free throws in the game while the Wildcats shot 10.....i think it was something like 42 /51 and 5/10 for both teams. That stat seems amazing to me.

have you seen lynn camp Play?
No not this year, but I have noticed that all of their games have been at home except for the games in the Berea tournament and one at Williamsburg. Do they have some new players they didnt have last year? I have heard they have some kids that have talent and they may be a little better than I think they are, but from my years involved in basketball, teams that give up the amount of points they give up and shoot as many 3's as they do have a hard time in a highly competitive tournament setting.

Oh, kinda like the ky team in 96? They shot a lot of threes real athletic very deep and sometimes gave up a lot of points. I would much rather see a game 95-88 as one 45-35. No doubt Cumberland has an amazing team and great defense. Don't understand why your so negative about Lynn Camp. Were just a small all A school. Maybe you should watch them play sometime.

Exactly, if they can manage to get that many free throw attempts against Cumberland or Mboro then the Lions will be rolling into McBrayer Arena in a few weeks. It is very hard to guard another team once they are at the free throw line.

This thread amazes me. Pineville was all the stuff in the preseason and now that they had one bad game and still managed to win everybody is on their back. One person even said other than Strange and Day the rest of the Pineville team couldn't make Lynn Camp's top ten. These players have proven they are winners and they do what it takes to win no matter who it is (Cumberland, who they've never lost to, or Lynn Camp) for the past 5 years. I think its funny none of Pineville's critics said anything when Pineville beat Alabama's #10 team out in Bowling Green. This Pineville team will be fine, just like last year's team ended up fine. Go ahead and bury Pineville like you did last year, and they will win just like they did last year. I'm sure these kids love your bulliten board material. :thumb:
