8th Region Girls All A discussion

Featured Replies

I agree, last night was a big win for them, however, they need to take care of business tonight against Class "A" Rival Owen County. If they do not come to play tonight, then last night was all for nothing.

Owen isn't in the All A anymore, last year, they moved up, into the double AA!

I believe that you all are underestimating Gallatin. If they get all starters back and can stay out of foul trouble, it will be a totally different game.

All of their starters are back! Welcome to the site.

Carroll County should win this if they play like they can through the whole tourney.

We will have an interview with Coach Mefford talking about the 8th Region All "A" on my coaches show tomorrow (Monday) evening and on the Radio on Saturday. Go to the show's website to access the show live at 8:00pm tomorrow.

And they will be back to "A" next year...as will Henry Co!

That will make for a better tournament. 8 teams, compaired to 6, and no one gets a bye. I would like to see each team play once before the All "A" and use a seeding method. Don't know if that is possible, but at least the top 2 teams would have the chance to play in the finals.

Good idea because I believe they have all played each other at least once by now and seeding would make it a better tournament.

This starts on Wed...at Trimble.

Stop by and say hi on Wednesday. I'll be there for both games and maybe a surprise also.

The fact that their is no seeding is what makes the All "A" a special tournament. It gives some of the weaker schools who have no chance at advancing past their district later in the year a chance to shine. I agree though that in order to send our best A team to the state A tourney would be to do a seeded tourney in the region.

It would be difficult to attempt to seed for the A, especially if there 8 teams. Most districts already seed, so teams have to consider that. Take Trimble, for example. None of the "A" schools are in their district, so they would have to play 7 "A" schools and work in their district (Oldham Co, S. Oldham, and N. Oldham) into certain dates, most prior to the 2nd week in January.

You shouldn't have to seed this. If the best "A" team plays to their potential they should win, right!:jump: :ylsuper: :thumb:

You are right but sometimes it makes a difference who gets the bye and who has to play 3 games. In the end you have to beat everyone to go to the tournament so it should not matter.

But in my opinion if it is not seeded there should really be no 2nd place, just a winner.

TB&G is right they are not in our district to seed but they are in the NCKC so they are playing them anyway it would just have to do with when they schedule. RIght now the only one they have not played once is Williamstown so they would have to be moved up on the schedule. It is just an interesting concept. Should not matter in the end.

I hear that Coach Mefford is already preparing his girls, by turning off half of the lights in the gym when they practice. ;)
